can somebody post a coment on 2012 update about this school couse my 5 year old is going to br enrolled for kinder
Bullying at this school is the worse I've ever seen (and I do have 2 older children who attended different NYC public schools). The parents do not discilpine their children and the school looks the other way and lets it go on. I've never experienced such a large number of spolied children and adults. I will be taking my son out of this school before September. However, the teachers are wonderful. It's a shame that they are doing away with the honors program for the middle school students. Some of these kids are serious students and have worked really hard to get into the ARP program & now they will have no honors listed on their 7th grade transcripts. The principal is constantly making terrible decisions and the children suffer.
My son went to this school for Grade K and he cried every morning because kids were always picking on him and there's no type of disciplne. My son didn't learn anything. His teacher had 28 kids and no assistant. How is anybody going to control 28, 4 & 5 year olds? Impossible... I always tried to reach the principle & she never returned my calls.
I too agree with the issues of bullying, disorganization and expectations that are blamed on BOE. I was left with no alternative recently to file a formal complaint with 311 and BOE regarding the bullying issue where I was advised by the school I need to understand the lunch aides are 20 year old volunteer college students who do not know any better 'quote.' It has been over two weeks and not the school nor BOE has gotten back to me regarding the so called investigation they are allegedly conducting. I am definitely removing my son from this school and have already made plans to meet with the home schooling department at 1 Fordham plaza. I will further agree the VP is great, but she is only one person and most teachers are great, but I too have witnessed the unwarranted voiceferousness of others.
The school is pre-k to 2. As in most schools some teachers are great and others are in my opinion a bit vociferous per my personal observation. The vice principal is great and principal no where to be found although she will lead you to believe she is involved. PS 207 use to be St. Johns School. Maybe it should revert as such.
I am afraid I must agree with the bullying issue and disorganization of this school. I plan on home schooling my daughter this fall. Although the teachers who I had the opportunity to meet are very nice the adminitrative staff must be reorganized. Bullying is out of control including the expectations of a child, but that can allegedly be blamed on the Board of Ed.
school n staff are great ....love the workshops on which they teach us the parent on how to help our children in our home/school to do better. although i wish they had more after school activities. but i'm happy with the work this school is doing for my child.
The Principal is oblivious to community programs catered to help students with tutoring. They do not make any attempts to help parents with the childs education. No involvement at all... Do not place your child in this school.
My child is an excellent reader but not so good in math. There is no after school program for her to get help in math. If she would have a hard time reading she would qualify for the after school program. I don't understand that. There should be a program for both.
