The school grounds and buildings look great much money has been invested on this. Unfortunately, the money can be better utilized on training the administration on social skills and somenkind of culturally sensitive training. The principal and MSGR. talk a good game. But, when there is a problem both are impossible to reach. The place is run like a prison. The teachers and staff look frustrated and overwhelmed and it is reflected in their teaching. Sad. Last year with my child in this school.
Great looking school, very clean, the maintenance department must be complimented. The quality of the teachers is good. Unfortunately, they are always requesting money for this and that. I recently had a concern a brought forth to the Pastor, his response was. I have nothing to do with the school, talk to the principal. That was my concern. Sad, this is the man who insisted when appointed that students came first. It would be nice if more time is spent on involving parents instead of not having time to talk or see them.
The leadership of this school has improved. There is a new principal and she is whipping the school into shape. The leadership in the past has been lacking. My son attended that school from 1996 - 2004, and though he learned, there were several problems. My daughter is attending this school now (2nd grade) and they are offering language (7th and 8th grade), AP/Regents (8th), extracurricular activities and tutoring, with the promise of much more to come. The moral of the students has greatly improved as well. The principal is strict, the teachers also have improved. It is a better environment now than when my son attended.
This school has teachers who are overtly strict, and use the umbrella affect to discipline one's behavior. Every child's behavior is approached similarly, regardless of age and grade. This method of discipline causes fear for some and disrespect by others. Some teachers, particularly in higher grades seem bitter and the attitude falls on the students. Lastly, the school seems to be on shaky grounds as far as rules, regulations and guidelines that are enforced. Screening methods need to improve in order to ward off children who exhibit delinquent behavior that compromises the safety of private schooling.
Classes have an excess of 30 students. Discipline is erratic; it is either too harshly enforced or not enforced at all. The screening process needs to be stricter.
