While at once sorry to learn of your daughter's pain, I am reluctant to agree with your assessment of the school culture. There are few schools where a zero tolerance mandate regarding behavior is so steadfastly upheld. I grow concerned when sweeping generalities ("The girls that attend that school are vicious ...) make it to the public sphere... as there is no room left for civil resolution of the matter before us. I fully understand parental advocacy; however in this instance your comments unfairly defame the character and aspirations of all young women in attendance at the school.

I cannot help be by skeptical of the reviews written because this schools is horrendous. The principal and administrators lack leadership. The girls that attend the school are vicious and cannot be controlled as are the parents. My daughter was assaulted in the school and they did absolutely nothing about it. If you are not concerned about your daughters safety than this is the school for you.

I am a current 8th grader though I have not experinced sca for myself yet it is an awesome school. I have friends that go there and they love it. Its one of the best schools in the bronx . I have went to sca's "hospataility day" and it was WAY better then the spend-a-days I went to . Send your daughter here. I put sca first on my tachs test and if I get accepted . Without a doubt I am attending !!!!

St. Catharine academy is a great school. I went there for my four years of high school and just graduated on in 2008. I miss it so much, i try to go back to visit whenever i can. You will meet some great people there. The people are nice - even the girls, the teachers are excellent and nice & there are are so many clubs, sports and extra curricular activities you can do & they offer great internships and other programs that you can do outside of the school also. Sca helped me so much. Thank you sca family & to my mom for putting me in such a wonderful school. My four years at sca were amazing. I will never forget it.

I am a current student from SCA and i graduate in 2009. I like the school but it is very very very strict. Being a private, catholic all girls school i guess the job is to maintain order by controlling every aspect of a students life but sometime they go over board! Plus this school will nickel and dime you until you are forced to sell your house. You have to pay for everything! Tuition is going higher and higher every year. So if you choose to go to this school, please understand cost is an issue. They do offer financial aid, but they are very selective. Though the price is steep the overall quality of the education is great.

I am a SCA grad. Loved the small school atmosphere. My college / vocational advice could have been better. But overall, I had a challenging, safe and fun four years.

I am an SCA graduate, now a college professor in Connecticut. I am pleased to say that I look back on my experience at SCA fondly. I've recently reflected on the fact that SCA was then a predominantly white school (I am a woman of color), and there were few racial tensions or conflicts of ANY KIND that I witnessed. I was school president, and involved in several activities, and encouraged to succeed. SCA was key to my success, and one of my best life choices.

As a former SCA student and parent of an SCA graduate and a present SCA sophomore, I think the school is an excellent choice. It provides an excellent curriculum and there is always help available when the girls need it. It is a very family oriented school which teaches good morals. It also offers many extra curricular activities and clubs. My daughter's self esteem has grown tremendously over the last two years. I would recommend the school without reservation.

As a graduate of SCA, I am proud to say I received a scholarship to NYU and went on to medical school. I am currently a physician practicing Internal Medicine in the Bronx. I owe a great deal to the SCA family.

I am a student at Saint Catherine Academy and I absolutly love it here! This school is an all girls school and we can study very well and we will not be distracted by boys. Without boys we focus well and get along with our fellow students better. I find all the teachers excellent and they care about their students very much. They also have workshops for training every week. We also have a hard working principle that strives to make our school the best and motivates us along with the other teachers to do our best. We have many extracurricular activities, such as sports and clubs. Also, discipline is an important factor in our school! The teachers are strict, but we the students understand that it is for our good and we will be the female leaders of our future. I'm sure I made the right choice coming here!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
