My Daughter has attended St. Joseph's for two years. Academically she has done very well, though not to her full potential. I think compared to the surrounding schools, St. Joe's is the best option for academics. I do have other concerns with the school. The school claims to be a loving caring safe environment. I have heard the teachers yelling and reprimanding the children. My daughter has been picked on and bullied to the point she doesn't want to go to school. I expected a catholic school to teach "love your neighbor". Sadly this is not the case.
My daughter attended this school from early age and eventually graduating from St Joseph's. While I agree on the education provided at an early age from this school was very good, however, it appears to be a break down from grades 5th - 8th grade and its cirriculum. It was a teacher issue and the lack of dedication where if it wasn't for my daughter being self taught at home she would have been another case issue. The hours do accomodate for working parents which was comfortable for me at this time and chorus was just introduced, but the students did get out of control at times where as for a Catholic environment I was surprised about this. My daughter is currently attending college and does not have any rave reviews from 5th - 8th grade and would not even go back to visit this school. All the young teachers who were eager to teach at this time left. I have a little one and I would not place her in this school. I would look elsewhere looking for a better environment and consistency in teaching.
I graduated from St. Josephs Elementary School in 1960. They prepared me very well academically. Wish I could contact students I went to school with.
St. Joseph School's early childhood teachers Ms. Zeno and Ms. Roman should get a standing ovation!!! My son started in the PreK3 class and is now entering the 1st grade at 4 years old. I took him to the DOE gifted and talented test and he scored in the 98th precentile thanks to the tremendous curriculum. I chose to let him continue at St. Josephs because of the religious approach to teaching. The tuition is extremely affordable considering that the children are in school from 8:00 to 4:30 everyday. The only setback with the school is that it does not receive the funding it deserves and therefore, improvements and repairs take a back seat. This school really deserves praise and should be considered one of the best in New York!!! Ms. Hughes, the principal is tremendously devoted and gives her all to the success of this school.
St. Joseph School is an excellent school. I have three children presently attending and will be returning for the upcoming school year of 2006 -2007. The curriculum and discipline code are superb. The administration especially the people that work in the office are welcoming and pleasant. The entire school seems like one big family. I have recommended parents to enroll their kids at St. Joseph School and they are happy with the level of education that they children receives. The tuition is affordable for parents with more than two children. The school hours are so convienent for working parents. The school band is one inspiring extracurricular activity that my son proudly enjoy being apart. I will continue to recommend parents and enroll my children to the school. Parents, if you are looking for a safe and warming environment, that deliver God's beatiful words and a magnificent curriculum, St. Joseph is best!
St. Joseph School is a very excellent school. Mrs. Hughes and her staff dedicate their all into the students education. Mr. Duffy the 8th Grade teacher goes above and beyond his call of duties to assist the 8th grader and prepare them well for the Coop Examination and Mrs. Davis the 3rd grade teacher who prepare them for the 3rd grade NYS exam. This school is a very good school.
