Sadly, St Jeromes will close in June. We are all disappointed and angry but our anger is misdirected- We should NOT be upset at the Archdiocese!! It took 140 years to make this school MEMORABLE AND UNIQUE and it took the priests of the INCARNATE WORLD 4 years to destroy it with their mismanagement, lack of educational expericence and lack of retaining good leadership, and arrogance!!! It wasnt a matter of IF but more like WHEN will their decisions finally cause the school to shut it's doors.

Since the change of administration this school has taken a turn for the absolute horrible worst. I have an 8th grader in this school and thank Goodness we are only 4 weeks away from graduation. I had my other child in pre-K however removed her immediately, I felt nauseated at the propect of having to suffer 9 additional years at this institution. The principal does not attend to the parents concerns, questions, or issues. She dresses unproffesionally often exposing her busom w/ inappropriate attire, walks around in flip flops, as she doesnt peel her eyes away from her cell phone. You will make attempts on vain to contact her via email, phone or in person, in fact has moved her office from the ground floor, where parents have potential access to her, to the higher floors where parents are not permittted. Your calls will never be answered. Disorganized, lack of communication, unprofessionalism, *ghetto* is what you should expect here. The staff are rude, gossipy, display favortism with subtleness, and there is nothing other than the prek, k & 8th grade teacher to be commended and acknowledged for excellence. Its a pity that it has come to this. I do not recommend at all.

This used to be a wonderful school, the previous principal who was a phenomenal leader/administrator, has resigned, and the new principal has singlehandely destroyed this schools reputation within 8months. Its an absolute shame and I do not encourage anyone to bring their child here.

My children attend the school. The change in administration has left little to be desired. The school had changed and not for the better. A good leader should be the first to set a good example.Sadly, this is not the case here anymore. Lack of experience, professionalism, and truth abound in what was one a great school. Unless the powers that be step in we will all be looking elsewhere.

I m graduate student from St. Jerome but my siblings still enjoy the family environment of Saint Jerome. I still like to go and help out and I always find a door open and a caring heart. Thanks Saint Jerome for all that you did and still do for me!

My children have gone to St. Jerome School for the past 4 years. I m very happy for the small but significant changes that have been made in the administration and the activities that are organized. Thumbs up for the new basketball court and recess everyday!

1. St. Jerome is a fantastic school! I myself am an alumni from St. Jerome and I send my children there. I would not consider sending my children to any other school. I am very pleased with both their academic and spiritual growth. I know that my daily commute from Yonkers to the Bronx is not always easy but I love the fact that my children can get discipline and excellent academic formation. Moreover, I see now a more important growth in the spiritual aspect of the formation of my children: they go to Mass every week!

3. I just transferred my two children from another school to St. Jerome. From the moment I walked through the halls of St. Jerome I knew that this was one of the school I wanted my girls to attend. I m very pleased with the education they are receiving. My daughters come back home every day with tons of good things to say about their school and teachers. I can truly say that my daughters enjoy now a way better education not only academically speaking but also in the spiritual sense. I also perceive an evident concern from all teachers and administrators in the education of every child.

When my child first started going to St. Jerome I was extremely satisfied with the school. The former principal Mr. Martz was amazing and did a tremendous job running the school, it was a happy place that I felt safe having my child attend. Unfortunately Mr. Martz chose to resign and the principal position was given to the former 4th gr teacher Mrs. Morris. At first parents were happy to know that the new principal would already know the ropes and continue on the path Mr. Martz set...we were wrong. Since September the school has made a 180 degree turn from what it was. She does not make parents feel valued nor does she welcome their involvment. She's done everything in her power to change anything that was good about the school but nothing to improve it. It's just very sad to know how hard Mr. Martz worked to make this school what it was and to watch it be brought down.

My child has attended St. Jerome School for the past two years. So far, the teachers are caring, supportive, professional and extremely approachable. The principal runs the school efficiently and is a no-nonsense type of leader. I am overall pleased with the school thus far. The neighborhood however, needs to be improved tremendously.

My daughter has just begun Pre-k at St. Jeromes and so far my experience has been great. I completely agree with the previous parents comment regaurding the principle Mr. Martz, since we've begun the process of becoming apart of the St. Jeromes family I have noticed on several occasions how involved he is with everything, he even helped my daughter on her first full day of scool with getting her breakfast, he's very helpful and genuine. My daughter loves her new teacher Mrs. Santo and the TA, who is also very sweet and works so well with the kids. So far I feel really good about placing my daughter at St. Jeromes and I look forward a great school year

I am a mother of four children. Two have graduated from St. Jerome & have gone to high school well prepared, or better said well advanced. My other two children one who is in Kindergarten with Mrs.C, is reading very well. My other son is in 5th grade with Mrs A. He comes home talking about his new math lessons & the time the teacher gives willingly to the students who need that extra help. The staff is amazing! We are all one big family. The principle is the best. He is a father to all the kids during school hours. He helps staff, students, & parents to the best of his ability! If you choose to enroll your child it would be the right thing to do & a great stepping stone for your son or daughters education!

My 6 year old has been attending St. Jerome School for 2 years now and I love this school The staff and principal treat each child as indiviuals and greet them by name they take the time to interact with the students. When he first attended pre-k he was very scared and didnt want to go to school but a couple of weeks later I asked him 'who do you love the most me or Mrs.Santo'? he looked at me and thought for a while and said 'I love you both the same' which brought tears to my eyes Ii knew I had made the right decision and im pretty sure most of the sudents feel as special as my son did and still does. This school is like a big family. I give it an A+. Keep up the good work!

My son is presently in the fourth grade in St. Jerome. I consider this school to be excellent. The principal is not only a leader but he is responsible of the children and acts as a caring and concerned parent with all children. The faculty is excellent they take time to know the children, their strenghts and their weakness and help them to overcome obstacles. The administrative assistant is like a mother to all the children. All staff members are respectful and no matter what grade teachers know all children by their names. If you register your child in this school know that your child will receive the best education from the teachers, books but most importantly their spiritual growth is an important factor in their education.

I would recommend St. Jerome School. The teachers care about the children. The principal knows each child by name. The overall safety and discipline inside is excellent. The safety in the neighborhood is not good. If your child attends St. Jerome School it's best to make sure your child is not standing outside the school. If your child attends St Jerome School you would not have to worry about the education your child is receiving or the safety of your child.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
