As a former graduate of Saint Barnabas High School, I can safely say it was my home away from home for 4 years. I enjoyed, no loved, the family feeling at Saint Barnabas. You knew everyone. From my first day to graduation, everybody was warm and welcoming. Other than that aspect, the curriculm was very informative, the dedicated teachers made learning fun! It was near impossible to fall asleep. Teachers werent hated or feared. Thanks for the memories.

The staff and the girls who attend the school are very kind and friendly however the acedemic department is my only concern. There is no challenge and the students are not encourage to attain their fullest potietial. Under no means am I a genius but I found my self bored and unhappy with the curiculum. Its a safe place and located in a nice quiet neighborhood but I wanted to leave based on the lack of challenge.

Just a great place to send your daughter to school. They go out of their way for each student. The school has made unbelievable progress in the last three years.

I loved being a student at St Barnabas. I had great teachers and made friends with other girls whom I will cherish forever. The time I spent there will be unforgettable.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

More from this school
  • Saint Barnabas High School is an all-girls' high school that borders the Woodlawn section of the Bronx and the southeastern section of the City of Yonkers. The school was founded in 1924, and has been at its current location since 1959 (the high school used the top floor of the elementary school across the street). At its inception, the school was founded and staffed by the Sisters of Charity. Each year, the St. Barnabas High School Music Department puts on an exciting Music Awards Show, similar to the Grammy Awards. At St. Barnabas, music students write and record their own songs (since 2004, over 150 songs have been recorded and placed online). The songs are placed into categories (like Best Rock Song, Producer of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Group Song) and the school votes to determine the winners. The show draws hundreds of people, local press and is a major fundraiser for the school. The school also has a great Film Department, which uses cutting-edge technology and innovation to produce their own films. St. Barnabas High School is a leader amongst Bronx Catholic high schools with their advanced Film and Video Production Curriculum. Recently, the Choir has taken off at SBHS! Come and join the choir as it takes off in competitions and feature performances. Music, Film and all other clubs are open to all students. Join one today!
