My son has not been in this school that long but so far the teachers which he has had are wonderful. The office staff, especially Mrs. Vedral, is kind and helpful. As a parent, I am concerned about some of the reviews I have read about the older grades. Hopefully the principal is aware of this and handles the matter. I would not like to have my son get to these grades and given this attitude. Also I believe this school needs more parent involvement. More meetings not just report card time and possible creative interactions. One last thing I really need to mention is that ... the school and the church should be a separate business. Schooling should not be held back if mandatory Sunday donations are not up to date. You are demonstrating mixed messages. JESUS WOULD NEVER DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS!!!! WOULD HE............. Lets fix the problem.

My son has been in St Barnaba's for 5 consecutive years, and even though I love that he can learn about the Catholic faith, I have to agree that this school is OVERCROWED and that's a concern.. I'm looking into move to a town with a good school district ( pelham or eastchester), so I can pull him out of St Barnabas .It's still a better option than the failling schools district in the Bronx and Yonkers, but if you can afford to pay a little extra, look for a better school dsitrict and put your child in a public school.

St. Barnabas Elementary School has a new administration, brought in during the summer of 2010, and quite frankly, the school is taking off! Enrollment is climing on a daily basis.

i completely agree, parents are basically ignored by teachers, particularly in the upper grades. teachers in pre-k thru grade 4 do a much better job and are way kinder to the kids.

Although I believe the school does a good job preparing kids academically - some classes are way overcrowded and I think they have a take it or leave it attitude whenever a parent addresses concerns regarding their child or offers a suggestion regarding some of their policies.

I believe this school continues to expand in the areas that are needed according to new developes in the academic areas. My children have been well prepared academically so far and both my children and I feel the teachers are doing a great job.

This is a great school to start your child in. They have very caring teachers who want your child to succeed and help in any way possible.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
