Our child loves HLA. She excels in math and sciences, loves the languages and has great friends. It's a private school for free. Highly recommended to all, good luck getting in though. There is a lottery and if you don't get in, there is a long waiting list.

My sons are in the third and fourth grades at HLA. I am extremely pleased with the the high scholastic standards as well as the creative and nurturing environment. The school leadership is an excellent team of professionals who strive to provide the best education for the children of HLA. The curriculum is challenging and multi-faceted and the students truly benefit. I feel very fortunate to have enrolled my children at this wonderful school.

Don't believe everything you read. The HLA has low academic expectations. Also, some of the kids don't belong in this school because they have behavior problems and don't want to study. You're better off sending your child to your local public school.

HLA is a wonderful school with great potential. It has the best teachers and leadership team. The teachers work very hard and strive to provide warm and caring environment for kids. Principal, Mrs.Silver, will always find time to listen to parent's concern and will find a way to address any issues or suggestions for improvement. Kids have exposure to variety of disciplines. In addition to math, english, hebrew, they also have art, gym, music, and chess classes. I feel lucky my kids are part of this great school.

HLA is a wonderful school. I have one child in 1st grade and another child in 3rd grade. They both love going to school, love learning, and love all the extracarricular activities they get in school. This school has a private school feel to it. The principal and teachers are always available for a chat. They address any concerns a parent may have and actually do something about it. HLA offers a safe and fun learning environment. Strongly recommend applying.

HLA creates an environment full of opportunities for its students. I assigned my child to HLA, despite her passing G&T test. As a charter school, they outperform the schools in the district. Their math and reading classes are differentiated in order to push better performing kids further and to pay all the necessary attention to the rest of the kids. Unlike many other schools that get their classes cut to a minimum, HLA offers physical education, art, music, and even chess every week! On top of everything else, the kids are learning a second language from kindergarten. By the end of the first year, my daughter understood a friend who spoke Hebrew to her and replied appropriately. I believe the students get great academic foundation and get to develop as more versatile individuals. I also appreciate the approachability of the school personnel, the teachers, the curriculum director, the principal. Ms. Laura Silver, the principal takes parental concerns seriously, and follows up on them. I like that HLA has all these advantages, and I love that my 7-years old daughter is looking forward to school every day. She loves it, she feels loved in it, and I feel lucky that she goes there.

HLA is a very special place. The quality of education is excellent. Children benefit from enriched math classes, chess, sciences, music and art beginning in kindergarten. The level of Hebrew education exceeds all expectations, by grade 1 my daughter was fluent and had no problem communicating in Hebrew when we went to Israel. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking for educational excellence and nurturing environment for their children.

The school offers unique education. Children get immersed in Hebrew studies from kindergarten, and the quality of education is so good that my kid is now fluent although we don't even speak the language at home! The general studies are taught well too - the math and English curriculum is strong - and the kids get chess, music, arts and gym daily. When the budget is cut in so many public schools, HLA enjoys more and more courses that help every child find their special talent. The only downside is that it's very hard to get into the school as the selection is by lottery only so I would encourage all parents to fill out the application form and if you don't get in, keep trying to get into the school through the waiting list - it is definitely worth it for your child.

I have two children at HLA and we love it! We have amazing teachers, strong curriculum, music, art, chess. My children learn in a great environment and look forward to each and every day of school.

My son loves the school. He has many friends, learns very well, and enjoys going to school. The teachers are sensitive yet very demanding. The principal is clearly on top of things and sets a great example for the staff. My child learns Hebrew but not at the expense of other subjects, he has friends of different backgrounds. The kids are taught to respect and support each other. Couldn't have wished for a better setting for my son.

Excellent school. The principal, Ms. Silver is fantastic. The teachers are so enthusiastic, and caring. Parents are encouraged to be heavily involved in the academia, programs, etc. This relatively new school is maturing, and flourishing beautifully!

HLA more than a public school, a great school with benefit of learning new language. The curriculum is great and strong, the kids are happy and the teachers are great. The new administration is great and made great changes in school, will highly recommend this school to a friend.

I transferred my child from HLA to another school. And I know two other parents who did the same. If your local public school is great, don't send your child to HLA. HLA curriculum is weak and the school has many kids with behavior issues.

HLA Charter School is great. I have 2 kids enrolled with 1 incoming for the fall semester. My kids came here not knowing Hebrew and they can now recognize Hebrew signs and lettering on building structures. The commitment to learning is evident in the teachers lesson plans, dedication to students and interaction parents. It is an awesome school! -Maria Dopwell Hall
