I had two older children that have graduated from this school and I never had any serious issues at that time. Now, the principal who is a former teacher and I feel she's trying her best to move the school in the right direction. I don't like the fact that parents will show up for movie night, but won't show up for P.T.A. meetings, it's so sad and shows that parents aren't active in their children's education; the teachers and principal can't do it alone.

The school environment is great. The teachers are great. The only trouble is that Mayor Bloomberg has decided that it is appropriate for a highschool to also be in an Elementary School. It does affect the peacefulness of the school.

This school has some of the most amazing teachers that I've encountered. They are well trained and are committed to the students. Specificially the primary teachers unfortunately some of the prep teachers and school administrator have some challenges working with students with special needs, thank God for the classroom teachers. They go the extra mile to support not only the students but the parents.

The assistant principal is rude and can be difficult to talk to. I had a good experience with the principal when I met her but she seemed a little on the chilly side the very next day. Some of the staff came off very rude to me and gave me a difficult time enrolling my child. If it wasn't for the difficult transition period my child would have I would take my child out. They could also use more extracurricular activities for the younger grades.

I find this school to have a horrible assistant principal. She is very rude and dose not know how to speak to Students, Parents or the Staff. The rest of the schools Teachers and Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. The Teachers that actually like teaching. They are willing to work with difficult students and still have energy left to work with the rest of their class. I think the school should have after school progeams for all grades whether the students need extra help or not.

I find this school to be pretty good. The staff are friendly caring and helpful to both parents and children. The staff are also honest with parents and they follow up when they are supposed too. The Classrooms and hallways are neat and clean. Academicly they could give students more homework and have more academic feedback for the parents other than report cards etc. They should also include more extracurricular activities for all grades. They could also improve on school dress code enforcement and encourage better behavior from students.

Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
