I attended this school and graduated in 1977 which seems to be a lifetime ago. Nonetheless, this school helped make me the person I am today. What you put into it is what you get out. My parents were not involved with my education, but I was determained to succeed. In my later years (I am 45 now, in 2012), I attended Stern School of Business and earned my MBA. Additionally I became Chief Operating Officer and President of one of the largest insurance companies in the world. I often look back to my roots, and I always sat, I wouldn't change a thing. PS 97 has a special place in my heart, and for those parents and students think this school cannot help you make a difference, I am here to tell you that you are wrong. Work hard, study harded, and never let anyone tell you you can't, because you can! I am a perfect example of it.

I am a parent, I would like to express my feelings. Since my children have gone to PS97 we have been through three principals.We have never had a problem not then and not now. My children have always been safe, happy and have received a great education. We are very happy with the new principal, she is doing a great job and has the best intrest of the children in mind.

As a parent of a child in this school. I am happy with the education and direction P.S. 97 is heading. The school has progressed better in the last years, its grades and ranking have all raised, and are well above city averages in most grades and, subjects. This is all due to the drive and determination of the schools staff, from the principle (who genuinely cares for each of her students), asst principle, administrative staff, teachers, and parents who put in alot of time and effort into seeing this school P.S.97 raise its standards. They dedicate themselves into teaching our children and provide them with the tools needed to strive ahead into each grade. There is still room for improvement but, if we all work together, and keep our childrens education, development and, well being first and foremost we can reach our goals. Thank you, Ronald J. Addeo

I am a parent, and I would like to express my feelings of the school. I feel the school is going down hill. The new principal cannot handle her position well. The children are the ones suffering. Things are done unfairly; teachers should be evaluated at least one a year. They ignore parent's comments about safety, and they ignore your child. Mr. Neworitz was the best principal; she'll never shine his shoes. Parents, be aware.

I couldn't of asked for a better school than PS 97! Both of my children received and outstanding education here. My children always scored well on all of there tests and that is due to the quality of teachers and staff. The principal,assistant principal, and parent coordinator are always there for me with any questions or concerns I might have. They also have an active PTA who support PS 97 in any way they can. PS 97 is like a family and that is due to all of the teachers, staff, and parent involvement.

PS 97 is a great school. My kids have all went there.They have done very well on there tests, I've never seen my kids so eager to learn until they came to this school. I never had a problem. The teachers and staff are very helpful and caring. The Principal and Assistant Principal are always there when I have a problem or a question that needs to be answered. The Parent Coordinator is always there when I have an issue with my child. I always feel welcomed in this school. I honestly can say I am very impressed with PS 97.

Everyone thinks this school is great, think again. If you are chinese you will do well and you will be liked. They sure didn't get their foundation for PS 97. They came into the school already educated, which the school loves because their job becomes easy. If your child is just average try chinese school or tutoring. They know more about education. They just want the parents to be a teacher, or they teach themselves.

I am one of Public School 97's alumni. I personally believe that this school was the base of my education. Without it, I never would have been accepted into the prestigious school I attend today, I never would have discovered my talents, and I never would have appreciated learning as much as I do. PS 97 truly makes learning a pleasure, school an experience to enjoy, not hate. With its wonderful staff, every student feels needed and loved. To me, Public School 97 felt like - feels like - a second home, and its staff feels like family. If I could relive my experience at PS 97, I most certainly would. ~Elissa

PS97 is absolutely amazing. My daughter attended this school and to this day, longs to visit it again. Its staff are warm and welcoming, and the principal is active and a true leader.

Ps97 has always been a great school. Its children, parents and staff are outstanding. They care about each other and work to give its children the best education possible. I can go on, but i think you get the point! I am a former PS 97 principal who understood that we were all family.

I am the parent of a fifth grade student attending Public School 97. I suggest that prospective parents locate school information on the NYC Department of Education website. The school mission and vision are clearly identified. This school and the wonderful Principal are very committed to the Arts. There is a Multimedia Lab, Computer Lab, Science FOSS Lab, Library, Art Room, huge gymnasium, early childhood outside play area and tons of after school programs for children and adults. This year the PTA meetings have been conducted at Night to provide an opportunity for working parents to attend. The lines of communication between school administration, teachers and support staff with parents is strong and supportive. This school is recognized as the 'Pride of Brooklyn.' My child and I will surely miss it when she graduates this June.

As parent with a NY teacher's license for 40 years I believe PS97 is a very good school. However, the building is old and severely overcrowded. The classes are large. Their is insufficient gym and recess. The communications to parents are often sent at the last minute and backdated. A terrible example for the kids who are required to be prompt in their assignments. The pressure on standardized results--which matter far more to the staff than the kids--is nuts; particularly because it is hard to study for a cumulative test. We know this comes from Bush, Klein, Bloomberg etc, but nine year olds should not have to buy into this craziness. The PTA seems to meet only in the daytime which excludes working parents of any involvement past buying a raffle ticket! This should change.

This school is the best!The teachers here help you with all you need to know for junior high school. They really prepare me well and I recommend choosing this school for your child. The staff is really kind and caring. They make sure your child is well taken care of. In each class they give your child the attention they need to become successful.The activities are so fun!

Academic program is strong in the 3 R's-reading, 'ritingand 'rithmetic but I think lacking in enrichment such as music, art, language. It certainly lacks in physical activity. Gymn is very limited and playground time even more limited. Its best quality, which counts for plenty, is the dedication and quality of the principal and teachers.

PTA children are not put in the top class. The principal and assistant principal choose the class by the child's test scores and other factors. A remark that children of PTA members are put in top classes shows ignorance. More parents should become more involved in their child's education and join the PTA instead sitting on the sidelines and passing judgements.

P.S. 97 is a school in where the saying goes 'It's who you know or if you are on the PTA. Pta children are put in the top class whether or not they academically deserve it. PTA children are untouchable. If you should have a problem with any of the main office staff your child(ren) will pay until they graduate from the school. They will not be chosen or any clubs or honor roll, student of the month, etc. Its a shame of how this school is being run. They need to clean house and start all over. Lets get it back to they way it used to be.
