My child spent one year in this school. Worst year of their life. Their fifth grade teacher did not teach but gave busy work and homework assignments consisting of writing the times tables 10x each every night from September thru June, the other assignments were rexo sheets. The teacher was mean and tolerated bullying in his class. He was also absent during the schools Quality Review. The principal does not run her school. The tenured close to retirement teachers run the school! The school does have a great caring assistant principal.
My child attends P.S.130 and I like the school. The Principal is wonderful, she tries very hard to keep a family type environment with both students and staff. I have no complaints, but some staff have to STOP! shouting at the children, especially in the early morning or during lunch. The staff need to tone it down just alittle, and not frighten the children. A child should not have to go to school and be afraid of the staff or teacher(s). The assistant Principal should try to be alittle more friendly with the parents, smile alittle more. I give P.S 130 an A
great, small and intimate school only getting better. New PTA afterschool programs, Wellness in the Schools program, partnerships with Carnegie Hall and Arts Connection all provide many opportunities of growth in the arts for our children. Wonderful principal who is very hands on and knows every childs name. The neighborhood is changing and more parents are getting involved so I expect that rating to go up soon.
Great school. Warm, dynamic forward-thinking principal. Close knit staff of teachers... A very clean, safe and warm environment. Tthe security guard seems to know the children's names. The first time I visited the school, I was struck by how well behaved the students were. The school is doing well, academically. My daughter is in kindergarten there and her sister will start pre-school in the fall. The school is continuously finding interesting and fun programs and activities for the students and parents. The makeup of school is very diverse, but there is a real sense of community. This isn't a flashy school, but it's a real gem. And it's only getting better.
PS 130 has always been the best, most diverse school in Brooklyn. They teach children to be responsible and accepting of all cultures. Thank all the teachers there for their untiring dedication.
My son has been there since kindergarten, he is now going to th 4th grade. All his teachers thus this far have been wonderful. On the downside, I believe that the assistant Principal needs to work on her attitude, its horrible.
PS 130 is a wonderful school. They have fantastic partnerships with various arts and music organizations. The teachers are dedicated and go above and beyond. My daughter is very happy there.
I suggest The Principal at this school listen to parents when they complain about their child being bullied and not accuse them of lying about what's happening to their child. Instead of swearing for the bullies and accussing the victims.
One of the best schools ever!! Everyone there is so nice and caring. I've been there. Go P.S. 130!!!
One of the BEST schools ever. Its like a big caring and loving family. Everyone know each other. The security guard is wonderful! She knows every child by name!
