Ps 139 is one of the best schools in Brooklyn! My son loves this school and the teachers are the best!

P.S.139 is a school where great things happen. There are top-notch art, music and science classes, and new programs such as dance, and one where the 5th grade will participate in painting the walls of the school. Above all, 139 has a committed staff of creative, caring teachers, and, with strong parent involvement, serves a diverse population of students. We're a strong community.

I have Twin boys who attend the school. They staff really takes pride in their students, in every aspect. I am unable to put the time I would like into the school. But when I can I always do and its definitely worth it..

I'm in college now, and it if weren't for 139, I would not be were I am today. Many of my classmates in junior high and high school did not know fundamentals that I learned in 139. Going there was truly a great experience and I would love to be five years old again so I can do it all over! Anyone who has graduated from this school is destined for success (Thanks Mr. Levy & Mr. Katz! Special thanks to my third grade teacher, Mrs. Bartel - I love you!)

My 2nd grader comes home excited about what he learned every day. In addition he gets lots of physical activity to burn off his 7-yr-old-boy energy. When he doesn't perform well, whether behaviorally or academically, he is eager to go back the next day and try harder. There are lots and lots of afterschool programs to choose from. And parent involvement is very high. Somebody's doing something right at this school.

Improvement in their communication department. Staff and teachers need better organizational skills in delivering important information to parents. Healthier choices for breakfast and lunch that contains low sugar in the meals. It's not a bad school but they need to improve these things.

My son has been at P.S 139 for three years and I am so happy with the cirriculum and environment, the parent/teachers assoc. is 100 percent active. It is good to see the parents working to make things happen in school.

This is my daughter's second year at P.S. 139 and I really like the school. The teachers are excellent and very helpful. She is also a part of the after school sports and arts program offered there and it is a wonderful program.

The principal is relatively new and I believe is in a 'battle' with the teachers and the union. Unfortunately the children are the ones who tend to fall through the cracks. Discipline is still heavily lacking in the classrooms, teacher to teacher mentoring is not what it should be, parental involvement is encouraged for extacurricular activities but oddly not nearly as much for academic support and teacher support. I think the teachers are good but they suffer from adequate support and the large classrooms. Children seem to be sent out of classrooms only to reappear 1 hour later. With not much change. I think the potential success of the school is great but it's leadership is lacking!

I have been very happy with the education my 10 year old recieved at ps 139 in the 4th and 5th grades. I was not equally impressed with the eduaction of my 6 year old daughter. The school is set up into two different schools. The administration was always very welcoming and accomadating. The teachers I dealt with were always helpful and availavble. They have a lot of programs to help kids struggling in different subjects. Overall I would say that this is a good school.
