Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

The student watch too much movies after lunch and during the time when the teachers are busy with prep. I wish that they can have an after school programs. PTA only focuses on fund raising but not focuses on bringing more educational programs for the children at the school such as chess and music program for children in younger grade. Parents are not always welcome to school and holiday activities. The positive aspects are that school seem safe and clean. Some teachers are very caring.

I love my daughter's teacher. This school has no recess every day and the once a week gym class is continuously being cancelled. I am not sure how the philosophy of this school is in alignment with what our mayor speaks when it comes to nutrition and exercise.

School is academically on average. Teachers are hit and miss. While most will try to keep up with a program. Don't expect them to be above and beyond. ( well I guess its OK for public school ) Administration is horrible. Most of the admin stuff is snobby and lazy. I guess it also very common among a city employees. ( Mister D, Mister C...just to name a few ) While defiantly not the worth ( considering we are in NYC standards ). If you have a choice look for better option.

My daughter is graduating from her pre-K class. We had a wonderful experience with the caring administration and the best teacher a parent can wish for their child. We are moving now to another school to attend a gifted program, but we will always keep this school in our hearts. Thank you Mrs. Pavlounis and thank you P.S. 177 for the great start!

We are completing our first year at 177 in Kindergarten. The school is very focused academically, my son has learned well and the administration has been available. The down side has been social. The school demographic is largely immigrant and little effort is made to bring families and children together. If the administration is reading this- class lists are very important! Little kids can't set up their own play dates.

I am a recent college graduate. In my educational career, this was probably the best school I'd ever attended. The teachers and staff were always available and looking for the best in each and every student.

I used to go to P.S. 177, and what can I say, it's a real good school. The academics are high, the teachers are great( Mr. Versh is the man) and the school is overall clean and safe. One of the better schools in the area.
