I have a daughter who has a great teachers at PS 179 and she love them very much. On other hand, the attitude of some school's staff members, specially the school's security guards towards the parents is very awful. I do understand that this school has a kids from all different countries and lots of parents do not speak english well or they do not speak english at all but that don't give them right to treat us as they do. This is a school and not some kind of detention center. So, stop being rude and unpolite and please, treat us same way as you want to be treated, with some respect and kindness!

I'm very happy to say that my child attends the Kensington School. The Principal is always visable and active throughout the day. The Teachers are commited and determined despite the many obstacles faced within Public Schools. The classroom size is typical for a public school, however the children are engaged and active. Kensington is a uniform School which creates an atmosphere for learning. The new PTA is very involved with active parents. The Kensington School has a diverse community that feels like family, with everyone doing there part to help motivate, educate and stimulate the students to success. I believe that with this enviornment success is inevitable!!!!!

This school has completely changed to the worst . my children are being bullyed by older children. and the principle is never to be found never returns phone calls. and has no extracurricular activities that this site is stating this is all false . except one that just started this month in march of 2010 chours.. the principle also refuses to celebrate any holidays.. this is very sad. as of the last three months there has been a notification sent home on how the school found bed bug speciman and an out break of the mumps and the principle is said theres nothing she can do about this in her own words .... this is not the time when is the time . parents need to speak up for our children education and making sure they stay healthy ..

I have children that attend this school. They all have wonderful teachers. I attended this school as well and it was wonderful at the time. The principal is nasty. All she cares about is the data...the rating of her school. It is not a safe school. The lunchrooms are terrible. They have no control of the students. They do not have enough staff members watching over the kids. They have bedbugs, mumps, fifths disease and nothing has been done to fix the problem. This school is nothing but a safety hazard. The staff is not friendly. You do not feel welcome. The school does not have any extracurricular activities at all. They also don't celebrate any holidays. They don't have any school plays or festivals.

i used to be a student at p.s. 179, and it was the place that i learned the most! i am now a graduating senior at Stuyvesant high school. the teachers (at least when i went there) were marvelous especially in the gifted class! Mr. Kohler especially was one of the great teachers that leave a lasting impresion (i think he retired though ...)

Some of the staff are very unfriendly and seem unhappy to be working there. For a school that prides itself in diversity, I find that it is not fair to all people alike.

This school was once a great school. It has become a school in which I am embarrassed to send my children to. The teachers are great. The Principal is unaccessible. Dr. Gulden seems to be a nice addition to an administration that is lacking in many areas. I have only kept my children in this schoiol because I have been very happy year after year with the teachers. They have been very helpful in including me in my children's education. Among the many great teachers..Ms. Parness, Ms. Lombardo, Ms. Sena, Ms. Danna, and Ms. Amato have all been very interested in my children's progress. If I had not been so impressed with the teachers in this school I would have taken my children out a long time ago. This administration does not seem to encourage extracurricular activities or field trips.
