I have three children that have attended different schools, but last year my youngest child attended 224 and its the worst school I have ever seen. The principal is nowhere to be found in a moment of need, if your child gets hurt no one can tell you what happened its just a Terrible school for a parent to send their child to and have a good day at work, since you are all day worrying about your child's safety. And that's besides that all they learn at the school are bad habits! No real teaching going on..

My son has attended PS 224 since Pre-K. The teachers are very dedicated to the children. The early morning tutoring is excellent. There is however the method of teaching that should be rethought. The children are not taught the fundamentals of math, reading and writing instead are prepared to take state wide tests. The children are definitely loosing out on the full educational experience. There is not enough time spent on the actual learning. This new method bounces them from subject to subject. The teachers are doing the best with what they have. When do we start teaching reading comprehension, understanding of mathematics and phonics. In order to excel we can't have just great teachers, but a great program. There has to be a happy medium other wise the children will be suffering in the end.
