I might say that the teachers apply themselves with the curriculm that they have to assist the children with the improvement of their test scores. My daughter graduated in 2005 and achiebe Level 4 in both her Math and English and was able to get that with the help of the teachers of PS 249. Continue doing a great job.

I visited The Caton School as apart of my Early Field Experience and the visit was excellent. My visit there was a plesant one. I felt like home. There were no yelling, the setting is bright and student centered. It encourages cultural diversity and it's a great learning environment.

The quality of academic programs is EXCELLENT! My son have always been interested in learning as most curious kindergartners do-His Teacher MS. Duncan have been excellent in her model approach to learning- As a concern parent the attend ALL parent teachers meeting. Almost every day my son comes home with a new technique he have learnt. She is 'knows' her students, she is respectful, kindhearted and compassionate -JUST THE TEACHER QUALITY THAT THE NEW YORK DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION NEEDS! Ms.Duncan of class k-109 should be recognized for her outstanding qualities and great teaching skills. Sign: Patent of Kindergartner Flatbush, Brooklyn NY

Overall, PS 249 has an excellent parent-teacher communication strategy where the children's academic performance is concerned. Parents are given various ways in which to get involve and work together with teachers in ensuring the success of the students. I have a daughter who has been a student of the school since 1st grade and who has been very successful in the reading program for two consecutive years. I am pleased with the quality work being given by the teachers especially Ms. Jones (Class 110) and Ms. Rodriquez (Class 301) and like the fact that, even off the school premises, the principal is able to recognize a student by name. Nice Touch, Ms Brown! Continued success and much appreciation to the staff of PS 249!

I've found the staff at PS 249 to be a close knit kind of family. They continually invite parent participation. They strongly incourage reading and offer supplementary options for children that are having academic problems.

Both of my children attended p.s. 249 and through out the years the school has improved. I personally never encountered any problems as far as saftey, quality of eduaction, and qualified teachers. The only thing that I would improve on is the quality of the foods that they serve the children for lunch. However i believe that this can be altered with more parental involvment.

As A parent I pay close attention to our daughter's progress and weakness at school. We stressed how important school is and how not so important cartoons isnt. I would like this school to make more progress for working parents I missed alot of meeting from parents asssocation commitee because 1. We dont get any mails about meeting and 2. Preparations are make for non working Parents and as working parent I personally think it unfair. Ms.Bochbot is very sweet teacher I am glad she taught my daughter she learned so much that will stay with her for a lifetime.
