I love John Dewey High School because the faculty will help you along the way through your whole high school career. If you need any help their a lot of people that can help you. Teachers, students everyone helps one another. I may be graduating but I still love this school. People look at the students and say we are bad kids. We are not bad at all we are not as smart as other students. We have a lot of students that are really smart. This school is amazing!

GreatSchool.org only rated this school a 4 out of 10? WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?! This is ridiculous, some of the worst high schools in NYC have been given better star ratings and JDHS happens to be one academically excellent and outstanding high school with some of the best teachers in NYC. What an outrage, please fix this! It should be way higher, about an 8 out of 10!!

This school is probably the most beautiful looking school in New York City, matter of fact, IT IS. John Dewey... what can I say, sure we may have our downsides like a couple of class cutters and people who don't want to learn, that's why the teachers at Dewey always say "You don't want to learn, get out and leave" and that is so true. Also this schools Art and Social Studies department is amazing, very intriguing too. If you don't talk or if you're shy, no one will mess around with you. It's all about independence in this school, I really loved my experience here. With over 20 strong and academically challenging AP classes. I hope other people choose this as a school because if you don't, you'll really miss out. Also... DID YOU KNOW, a student who was planning to transfer out of Dewey was accepted into MIDWOOD. And guess what? That student declined and stayed in Dewey. That's real truth and power of how amazing JDHS really is.

Dewey has great teachers and programs like the academy of finance, coop, and computer science institute. There is also the flexibility to choose from wide range of classes to suit students interests.

John Dewey is a nurturing place for students, its diverse population contributes to the unique flavor of the school. There are more than 20 language families in this school and the staff makes a conscious effort to know allthe students individuallly. This is unheard of in a school of more than 2600....in addition, the school offers mroe than 17 AP courses while paying special attention to its special needs and English Language Learners students. It has an excellent attendance rate and, because it is a large comprehensive high school, it has many areas for student support and opportunities.

The school was awesome. The teachers were great and the students were awesome and I meet some great people there. Of course there's going to be some people that don't care but that's there problem. high school is about building the foundation for college and college means you have freedom, No ones going to tell you to go to class in college. I loved how I had the chance to choose what I wanted and didn't have to take a sport that I didn't like or an english class i wasn't good at. I loved the campus that was one of the things I loved the most about the school the beautiful campus. playing handball being able to have food that;s not school lunch to just have that freedom to make my own decisions.
