I went to this school in first and second grade a few years ago. This school focuses significantly more on Judaic studies than the regular academics. It teaches the minimum of academics and puts the religious studies before everything else. Religion is important as well, but I need a school that provides me with all the education I need to prosper in my academic studies and this school definitely couldn't do that for me. When I transferred schools I was way behind in my studies when compared to the other kids in my new class. I realized that Shelshelas had not prepared me at all for a life outside of that school. I guess it matters what you're looking for. I am a reformed Jew, so I am not as strict about my religion as some others might be. I will say that the teachers were caring. They were were completely unqualified though and even as a first grader, I could tell that there were times when they had no idea what they were "teaching". Overall, this school leads kids into believing that all they will ever need in life is their Judaic studies. It keeps reformed kids like me in a so-called "bubble", which I thankfully burst out of when I left the school. NOT GOOD!

This is a school which focuses more on Judaic studies. You will receive secular education but unfortunately, it will be very limited compared to other schools. Teachers are straight out of high school, no college education whatsoever. (Not surprising considering they have such little funding). They do offer services from board of education to students who require it. I'd say it's a good school for students who don't want to consider public school but are not ready for really religious schools.

No homework was given in 6th grade, no special projects, one book report. There was nothing given to motivate the student to go further with any subject. It is a school that baby sits the girls until they get married. This place does not prepare the students for college and beyone.

I just graduated from Shalsheles in June 2010, this is the best school I have ever been to. I love Shalsheles, they are my family whom i love for and care. Shalsheles always stays with us. The teachers are amazing, the school is filled with love and warmth. You can take a girl out of Shalsheles, but you will never take Shalsheles out of a girl. Highly Recommended!

It's a very special school and fundamental to all the young Russian-American girls. It provides a nurturing warm environment while simultaneously a wonderful education.
