William T Dillon Child Study

My son attended Dillon for a few years both for their 2's and 3's program. There is alot of opportunity for parent involvement which is good but Dillon encourages learning through play and I don't think the children are learning as much as they could be. The curriculum or program gets boring after a few months, the children are not challenged. For the price I was also disappointed in the amount of activities.

great for building your child's confidence and love of learning. very high student teacher ratio (3 to 1 in my son's class). there is not a set curriculum but very hands on with lots of cooking and reading. great outdoor space for play. While strongly encouraged, parents can choose their level of involvement in the classroom and in fundraising activities. Parents are also always welcome to observe from viewing galleries in every classroom.

A wonderful environment that is play centered program. To date, the most diverse private preschool in Brownstone Brooklyn. Meets children at their level, and individual need. Rather than, expecting the child to conform to preset expectations. However I would not recommend their Kindergarten.

My very shy 3yr old daughter went to this school. It was a great first experience for her. The class ratio of 14 kids, three great teachers (sometimes supplemented by the college students interning for masters credit) afforded her the intimate contact she needed. She loved her class and the grounds. She is no longer at the school (It only goes up to Kindergarten) but she still speaks fondly of her experience. The observation rooms are great for those parents with separation anxiety.

Dillon has a fabulous early childhood program with nurturing teachers, close supervision, light spacious classrooms and beautiful outdoor play area. The children are not drilled but learn through art, play, singing, reading and interacting. The school is very culturally diverse and all can feel welcome. There are opportunities for parents to be as involved as they want or are able- but no specific time requirements. Our son is thriving and we are very happy with the program.
