I visited every school my child was accepted into...I visited Williamsburg on May 9th 2014. I sat outside in my car and looked for about 15 minutes before I decided not to go in and soon after I drove away. I saw 2 kids smoking directly in front of the school by the entrance door while staff was walking out, students came out with their pants sagging, a young girl came out with a red bandana on her head, about 20 kids were hanging out in front of the school and a few others were skate boarding and playing in the street directly in front of the school... I do not even want to mention the language I heard directly in front of the school...and not 1 security guard was in front of the school...This is not a large school and the population is extremely low compared to other high schools so where is the order.....so let me get this straight.. As a parent Williamsburg Charter School would like me to pay about $150 on 1 uniform package but it will not enforce proper dress code, scholar like behavior or a decent school like environment...It is a beautiful building on the exterior however the foundation is lacking...

Williamburg Charter School is a excellent public school. Both my children attended. Both of my children were accepted to great colleges. More importantly they continued to evolve into warm human beings with a sense of citizenship and a grasp of the importance of community and reaching back. I specifically commend, Mr Faella Advanced Placement Art who encouranges the children to expand their imagination and possibilities through this genre. Academics are rigourous with great prepartion for college readiness. The only change I would recommend is to include SAT prepartion into the academic curriculum, to enable the children to compete with the scores from the suburban districts. GREAT SCHOOL. Great teachers!

I'm not sure who thinks charter is a dream come true because it has been an absolute nightmare. From a constant change of faculty and staff to failing to meet deadlines, it has been the biggest failure entrusting the most important time in my daughter's life to the people at Charter. From the head of the school to security there are constant mistakes, lack of concern for students, and decisions that make no sense. there have been issues like moving the students from their school to the loft spaces to hold classes, delaying their start date at the new campus, moving to the new building while it was still under construction, not updating report cards before they were sent, questionable hiring practices, not having the heat on til mid October because the system wasn't ready...i could go on and on. Not to mention the CEO; the stories the staff could tell...if they weren't so afraid of retaliation. these have been the longest few years of our lives. My daughter can't wait to be done! The 2 positives: the new building is gorgeous AND the few teachers who are vested have really made a difference in my daughter's education. Thank God for those few!

This school was an answer to my prayers. My son loves this school and I do too! The staff are amazing and dedicated. They even learn Latin!
