My school is amazing the teachers are nice to you, the way they teach you is friendly and not pushy. you call teachers by their 1st names which gives you a strong connection with the teacher, and i make a lot of new friends because of the diversity of the people.

Simply put, Community Roots is an awesome school! When you go on a tour, you want to immediately enroll your child. The high quality of care and concern for each student is unbelievable. The teachers and staff work hard all day, everyday. The school's leadership is strong and progressively makes sure that your child is given the best opportunity while learning and performing at his/her best each day and enjoying school in the process. At the end of the school day, your child doesn't even want to leave. The afterschool program only adds to the dynamics of the school. As a parent you will notice, that your child is truly happy and looks forward to going to school. All the children are like sisters and brothers. CRCS is a real family. The best interset of each individual child is the heart of the matter. If your child attends CRCS, you're very fortunate.

Community Roots inspires Teachers, Staff, Students and Parents alike. The leadership invites everyone to come together and share their ideas and energy to provide our kids with all the support they need to succeed. The expectations are high for our children, both academically and emotionally/socially and with the tremendous support network they have created helps them to meet those expectations and beyond.

They have caring teachers and staff that not only make sure that your children are getting a great education, but are also helping parents to develop well rounded individuals that will use the schools "core values" for the rest of their lives. Many thanks to Alli & Sara the schools co-directors; and to all the teachers and staff for all that you do everyday for all of the children.

This is an excellent small school with two fantastic teachers per class, lively classrooms, a wonderful integrated studies program. There are fulltime music, art and science teachers. Parent involvement is encouraged and staff and the principals are often walking down the hallways checking in with parents, teachers and kids instead of sitting behind their desks. It's a vibrant, rich learning environment and an excellent school!

My son started at CRCS since it's opening. I have found most of the teaachers to be very smart, kind, passionate people. I believe my son has grown as a reader, writer, mathmatician, and scientist. The teachers and admnistration are always accesible. They listen to parents and they care not only about academics but my son's social and emotional growth. I especially love Rebecca and Sabha ( Kindergarten) Brandy and Lori (first grade) and Todd and Michelle ( third grade). Community Roots is a great school!

Community Roots is pretty amazing. My child is now in the third grade. She likes her teachers. She feels respected, she feels that her opinion matters, she feels that she has learned different strategies to learn and the way she learns matters to her teachers. she can speak to both Alli and Sara the principals . She has grown as a reader, a critical thinker. She's made great friendships. The teachers focus on academics but take great care and time teaching great social interaction skills. She still talks about her two kindergarden teachers Sahba and Rebecca. They were just great. The principals are great. Community Roots should win this $20,000 , it is wanted, it is needed, it will be well deserved and be guaranteed it will be put to good use.

My son is in his 4th year at Community Roots, and I can't say enough positive attributes about this school. At the core level, you have an administration led by two co-directors who both display genuine passion for education. Not only are the basic academic principles supported, but equally important...respect as a community (student, teachers and parents). As a parent, I appreciate the full integration of academic knowledge, as well as cultural and physical engagement...which are supported by integrated studies of local communities, capoeira lessons, partnership with BAM, and many more. Community Roots is also a true community by representation of families from every cultural spectrum. So appreciative that my son attends this school!

My son's school offers an active learning experience in a small and nurturing enevironment. The school is filled with dedicated teachers and staff . Every day is a day filled with joy, laughter, and new experiences. The diverse community of children and familes that attend the school and support it share many talents. Although the school is progressive in the way it teaches children, it is wonderfully structured and disciplined. My son is extremely happy there. I hope he is this lucky with all of his educational experiences.

My grandson is in his second year there. I have spent some time there, including a 'family' day--every family was invited to plan and conduct activities with the children--it was fun and interesting. The teachers were amazing--very caring but demanding, with high but realistic expectations. They managed a pretty large classroom with a diverse group of kids in every way and pulled it off beautifully. My grandson is very happy there, has learned a tremendous amount and loves it! It is a new school and I was worried--but it is really fantastic.

My daughter is not only learning academics, she is learning to love learning. The environment promotes a positive feeling about school for students that really helps to motivate them. The warmth and nurturing; however, does not get in the way of the school operating like a well-oiled machine. The school has great academics, arts and varied enrichment programs. Moreover, everyone works together there. Teachers, parents, administration and support staff come together in a way you rarely, if ever, see in public schools or even the best private schools.

Community Roots is an informal and orderly school - nurturing and supportive with clear standards and high expectations for each child. There is a thriving and healthy partnership between parents and teachers. Attention is also given to your child's emotional and social development. In short - the school takes a holistic approached to education. Other pluses - teachers do not yell; inappropriate behavior is dealt with in a fair, firm and timely manner; the school is committed to community; and with two teachers per class you are comfortable that children are getting the attention they need.

I think what makes Community Roots unique is the clarity and consistency of vision that informs every aspect of the school. The two principals developed the charter together while in graduate school, and then actually brought it to life once they were out. Everything feels integrated - engaged, kind and creative teachers who share the same vision as the principals; the progressive curriculum that ties multi-disciplinary study to extended projects that involve the students in finding out about themselves, their families, and their community; and a tremendous support system for the kids within the school itself - social workers, an occupational therapist, learning specialists, etc. The parents are wonderfully involved, as well, and I think we all feel very lucky to be a part of it.

as someone who has taught at the university level for 12 years, I can say, that beyond doubt this is the most unique school I have come across. It's exceptionally well run, the principals are extremely well informed, skilled, attentive, know and care for every child, and are involved in every facet of school life. The teachers are excellent. They love the children, show their affection providing an incredibly supportive environment for the children. The programs are very well designed, using sophisticated and progressive teaching and learning modalities. The atmosphere is relaxed but at the same time, everybody on the school's staff takes their work seriously. Parent involvement is always welcomed which is why most parents are involved in various programs and committees. Most important, children and parents alike, everybody loves this school and supports it in every way they can. We feel incredibly fortunate. Thank you.
