I think this school is a pretty good school, but it could be a lot better.
The people there. I went to school there for all my years and it was great morale and the teachers were wonderful. It is a very small graduating class which makes you very united and feel like a family because you know everyone. The building is warm and embracing and the community too because it does not have crime in the area and you feel safe. I have sent both of my children there and will be sending my third when he is old enough. Your school years are your best memories and when you reunite years later you recount those memories and the school at which you met and made them makes all the difference in good or bad ones. Brushton-Moira is wonderful.
this is the worst high school in this area. Most teachers are rude and could care less about the kids. Degrading comments fly out of their mouths on a daily basis. This school is run by a superintendent who picks and chooses certain children to befriend and torments the rest. She yes's you to death to your face, and does nothing behind closed doors. Brushton high school has gotten steadily worse since she arrived. When she couldn't do her job as principle, she got promoted to superintendent. Only in Brushton! My child was treated terribly by the superintendent, when she was the victim of bullying in the school.
I am a former graduate of BMC and loved my time there. There were a lot of great teachers most of the high school teachers have retired. My children attend BMC now and I think it is a wonderful place for children to attend school. There is a very caring staff. There was a change in administration about 1 year ago and the morale of the school has become more positive. Mrs. Andre has Monday Morning meetings for grades K-5, which are great! It is a way for her to raise the students' self-esteem by giving them a pat on the back. She addresses bullying and reviews rules for safety in the cafeteria and on buses. I am involved in the PTSO and it is upsetting to see very little parent involvement. As parents it is our job to be supportive of the school and relay that message to our children.
I am a current student here at BMC and I think it is an excellent school and would reccomend it to anybody. The majority of the teachers are excellent and all the activities are very well put together. It is a great shool and I think it gives the kids a lot of leadership and academically challenged bstacles to overcome in High School to prepare kids for life. Please do not listen to negative comments because this school is one of the best academic schools in the area.
I can only write about what the school was like for the few years until 1998. It was quite awful. While I had a few excellent teachers, overall things were run rather poorly and the administration was rather inept and corrupt. I would not send my child to this school; even home schooling would be preferable. I saw many children's futures destroyed by shockingly poor teachers (the review of '3' I gave the teaching is belanced by the greats), and an extremely immoral principal, who seemed to spend her time persuing grudges rather than doing her job. I actually did quite well in the school, and went on to a great college. However, I had a lot of self-motivation and extra help. The school has hopefully improved since I have left, but most of the best teachers have retired.
I'm not a parent, I'm a former student at BMC. I think this is a great school, the best! I wish I could go back. The people are great, the teachers are great, everything is great!
