Very poor educating ability and no information from educators on available community resourses for children.

My son attended BUCS 3rd grade this school year and will not be coming back in the fall. The school and the teaching staff are subpar. The kids spend more time being yelled at by teachers than actually being taught. It's more like a fulltime daycare for kids than an educational environment. I would advise any parent who is considering BUCS to look elsewhere.

I would give BUCS 1 star. The staff and education that the students receive is poor and far below average compared to the other WNY schools. My daughter has attended the 4th grade here and will be attending a private school next year. I agree with the previous reviewer that BUCS seems more useful as a daycare than an actual school system. I would not recommend this school to any parent.

I would not recommend BUCS to any parents that is serious about their child's education. This school has a problem with discipline which prohibits other children from having a proper learning enviornment. I will not send my child back to this school next year.

My children just started this year. So far, I am pleased. As an involved parent, I appreciate the fact that parents are welcome anytime, the office staff is very friendly, the principal is very welcoming, and the children seem to have a dignified approach in their conduct and uniform appearance. Unfortunately, there is no transportation, you must drop your children off and pick them up and they also provided a bus pass.

My youngest son is currently in 4th grade, and he is starting his 3rd year at BUCS. My older son attended there for 7th and 8th grade, and was accepted into Hutch Tech for high school. I love BUCS because of the high academic standards and caring staff, and because it is a safe and happy place. The students are taught on their level, so no matter where they're coming from, they will be given the opportunity to excel. NHA places a high value on morality as well, which supports my efforts to teach my kids to be good people. Ms. Messmer is a terrific principal. She knows how to be strict, but is kind and fair. Parents, teachers, and kids all like her.

When Buffalo United Charter School opened in 2003, our older daughter began 1st grade. She is finishing 6th grade now. Our younger daughter started in 2006 & completing 2nd grade next month. Why did we choose BUCS? We believed in NHA's positive attitude, high academic expectations & plan for 'challenging each child to achieve'. With a few twists in the road, school leadership has turned around positively with Ms. Mesmer, the new principal. Her dedication & diligence have been inspiring. The teachers my girls have had have been phenomenal!! I couldn't ask for more caring, involved professionals to educate & interact with my girls nearly 7 hours a day. The Librarian and Resource Rooms' Consultant Teachers are extremely valuable & treasured staff members. The office staff, even while extremely busy, are ALWAYS polite, willing to help and as efficient as possible. Realizing individual academic potential is their goal.

I think that the teachers that I've met thus far really care about their students. The work that my son does in the 1st grade is preparing him for the next grade. It is serious work that is well rounded.

So far I am pleased with the education my boys are receiving at Buffalo United Charter. One son is in the sixth while the other is in third. I am well pleased with the way the teacher interacts with me as well as the tremendous effort they put forth in educating my child and others.
