I'm a student attending the 7th grade at Elmwood Village Charter School. This school is the best one I've ever been in. The kids here all wear a smile on their face. The teachers are great as well as the students that attend. New kids should not be afraid to attend this school. The kids at this school will become friends with anyone who needs it. Teachers care for these kids like their own and help them with anything they need, while having fun doing it. The people in the office also work hard and do an excellent job. This young school has certainly made its name known throughout Buffalo. Parents if you wish your kid to attend this school I say that it's worth it.

We have 2 children in this school and have been very pleased with their academic and social progress. The teachers and director are very accessible. Teachers know and care about your child. They will work with you to ensure that your child is learning and thriving. My children look forward to school and are happily greeted at the door as they enter and leave each day. We are pleased that the school is expanding as every child should be lucky enough to have the chance to attend a school such as this.

We applied to Tapestry and EVCS and got into EVCS through the lottery (and were waitlisted for Tapestry). My daughter is a first grader here this year, having started in Kindergarten, and we couldn't be happier with the school! The teachers and staff are well-educated and caring and truly dedicated to the success of each child, offering additional help to children who need it (like my daughter, who stayed after with her kindergarten teachers to strengthen her reading skills so that she would be ready for 1st grade) and also giving the more advanced students enrichment opportunities so they don't get frustrated with material that is already familiar to them. I was somewhat concerned about taking on responsiblity for transporting her to and from school, on-site before and after school care is available, so my work schedule doesn't have to be interrupted. The daily interaction with teachers, staff, fellow parents and students pleasantly contributes to a feeling of community A great school overall! It is so wonderful to have the option of staying in the city and knowing that my child is receiving an educational experience similar to that offered in Suburban districts!

I am thrilled with my child's school. And now that 7th and 8th grade are being added, I am even happier. One of the strong points about EVCS is that the atmosphere is very welcoming to all families, including GLBT families.

I've recommended EVCS to everyone I know with young children. My daughter can't wait to go to school each day! The teachers are amazing, the staff is kind and involved, and the entire EVCS community works hard to make both the school and surrounding area a better place. Wonderful!

I cannot say enough about this school. This school truly has a community feeling to it and every employee is dedicated to making sure the children succeed. Extra help is available for those that need it and all of the extra classes like dance, music, Spanish, gym and art contribute to turning out well-rounded students. The affiliation with the Boys ans Girls Club for before and after school care is outstanding. I would highly recommend this school to any parent in Buffalo.

All the staff at this school goes above and beyond to help your child succeed. My son has blossom so much in this school than he had in buffalo public school. we are very happy to be part of the evcs family. I have told other families to apply to see if they can get it in, once they are in they should have no regrets.

When we got the news that my son could enroll at EVCS, it was truly life-changing for the whole family. The environment is like night and day compared to area public schools. The academic standards are significantly higher, and the atmosphere is one of encouragement and empowerment. EVCS has far exceeded my expectations, which were quite high!! Highly, highly recommended.

I transferred my son to this school from Buffalo Public Schools. This school is fantastic. There are several programs which are offered after-school. My son will start the music program after school in November. I would recommend this school to every parent of a child in grades K-6.

EVCS, in it's start-up year, is an overall excellent school. Incredible faculty and administration, excellent curriculum and arts programs, high parent involvement, and is not at all 'elitist', like some other local charter schools. As an educator myself, I had high expectations- EVCS has met or exceeded them all!
