THE BEST school district I have ever lived in. The middle school is widely known for its academic achievements and expansive opportunities for kids to really push the envelope in learning. This could only be done with a) teachers able and willing to put in the extra effort, b) significant parent involvement, and c) administration encouragement. Also extremely well managed from a fiscal standpoint.

I love O'Rourke Middle School because all the teachers go out of their way to help the students excel! It has such a great facility that is always sparkling! The students are so nice to one another compared to other schools and everyone always has a smile! The teachers are well qualified and discipline is always used when necessary. The morale at this school shines right through and the 'spartan' symbol, along with maroon and white are worn with much pride. The Burnt Hills district continually gives back to the community. A student, Jacob Shell, the son of O'Rourke Middle School english teacher, and high school varsity football teams coach was diagnosed with cancer and the Burnt Hills families reached out beyond belief! They helped to raise thousands and thousands of dollars to help out the Shell family and Burnt Hills is known for being 'Shellstrong'. You can add orange to the list of school colors, that one was Jacob's favorite. Middle School students always put others before themselves, Jacob is a great example, this school honestly amazes me each and everyday with their kindness!

This school has the same name as me! I think it is named after me.

This school has some of the most dedicated teachers you will ever see. Administration has adopted a cover-your-butt mentality that makes it difficult for teachers to help kids excel, but I have been pleased with my child's overall experience.

Poor communication between parents and teachers. The school treats the kids like criminals and the kids live up to this. Parents are discouraged from participating in the school. They do, however have extracurricular programming provided by PTA. Nice area, though.
