This School has worked well with us to try and help my ADHD son, who has had behavior challenges. He has made improvements this year, and I attribute a lot of that to his teacher and the staff at Calcium Primary. I am sad that we have finally found a place that is willing to work with my son and now we must PCS and find a new school in another state. The only negative things I have to say are that 1) I wish that his IEP screening process woul have been started earlier in the year so we could benefit from it this school year. and 2) while my son does have issues, he is VERY smart, it would be great if there were gifted programs to offer these children, and he probably would do better if he were more challenged. All in All, I would reccommend this school to anyone, they are GREAT

Great things about this school: The music program is A+++, the school is also good about encouraging parent interaction. Not so good things about this school: Showing cartoons in the afternoon, doesn't have outside recess every day, lack of a program for gifted students. My children, who are accellerated learners, have not been given the additional opportunities that they need. Also, I understand that sometimes it can get too cold for recess outside - but this is rare. My children saw movies like 'The Bee Movie' and 'Bewitched' on warm, sunny days near the end of the school year. I would prefer a routine outside recess in lieu of these movies.

I am a very involved parent at Calcium Primary. I see the interaction of the teachers with the children on a daily basis. The staff at Calcium truely care about the children that attends the school. My son has attended Calcium since he was in kindergarten, he is now in the third grade. I have to disagree with the other parent who said all her child learned to do was make greeting cards, sell chocolate and learn the Macarena. This school offers a lot for the children, you just have to want to be involved in your childs education to reap the benifits! I have never seen a school so caring and eager to help a child progress on their path of education! I love this school and hate the fact that as a military family we must move and leave this wonderful school!

Great facilities. Seemingly educated teachers. Horribly inadequate educational structure. My son is in third grade and so far he's learned how to draw greeting cards, sell chocolate and dance the macarena. What a waste. Thank God he has to change schools next year.

My child attended school at Calcium Primary for 3 years (K-2). I love this school. We will be moving after this year. We hate to move because this is such a wonderful school. The teachers and the Administration care about the children and make parents feel so welcomed. My child has loved every day that she attended Calcium Primary. We hope to find another school where my child can be this happy.

This school offers a rather attractive place in which to learn. The school makes strides to include parents in the many school activities, and community events. I would like to see more individual attention to students perhaps by adding teacher's aides to the classroom however with the recent budget cuts in education I don't see this happening anytime soon. There are programs in place for children considered special needs but nothing in place for children who may require a higher level of learning such as a gifted program which is unfortunate. But overall a great school.

I loved this school. When I was going to Calcium primary school between the first and fourth grade, I felt so safe and comfortable. This school means so much to me, even though I don't go to it anymore. I would recemend this school for any elementary student.

Calcium Primary is a top notch school in NNY. The educators, staff, and leadership all show a genuine concern for the students. Information flow is excellent. Children are challenged and given every opportunity to learn and excell. Parental visits are welcomed and encouraged. All questions for any issues and curriculum will be explained and answered. Five stars.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, and in grades 4 and 8 in science. The results for English language arts and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles and the science results will be added when they are released in the Fall of 2013. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York. The goal is for 90% of students to meet or exceed grade-level standards on the tests.
