On average, Carthage is a great school, good amount of people in band along with JROTC, so far it seems that JROTC is heavily support by the community around the Carthage School District, and JROTC makes up about 14% of the total schools population and most of the cadets are either an athlete, artistic, or band member.

My kids have been through the gamut of high schools since we are a military family. This is my son's 4th high school in as many years. Carthage is a pretty good school, with alot of involvement in kids who are athletically inclined--those who aren't will need to have parents who are involved in the school process, otherwise your child may get lost in the system and may not have the classes he/she needs to graduate on time.

I am a 1981 graduate of CCS and in 2004 my son will be a graduate of CCS. Alot has changed in 23 yrs. but I must say most things have changed for the better. We do not have a school uniform but we do have a dress code. We do not have (nor have the need for) metal detectors at the doors or security guards patrolling the halls, but we do have parents who are; on the local police forces, MP's on the Fort Drum Military Base (3 miles away),and many staff and parent volunteers who make sure our kids are safe on a day to day basis when the craziness of this world try's to interupt the innocence of our children. We do not have thousands of students or lots of money in our district but we do have students who care about their school, thier friends, and their futures. We have more School Pride and Spirit shown in the support of all our Sporting Events, Musical Productions, Art Exhibits, Graduation Exersizes, and Teacher/Staff Retirement Gatherings, than any high income high enrollment high society school could ever match. We have graduated many scholars and many atheletes (Casey & Ryan Powell MLL Players to name a few) any many talented in the Arts. We have a school that offers something for everyone. All they have to do is want it and work for it. For even with a free public education there is a price to pay...setting your goals and working hard to reach them.
