I'm very happy this school is excellent my girl love the teacher very much .thanks
I have two children at WC and have had nothing but wonderful experiences here! As irritating as I am, they are very patient with me and are always welcoming. Both of my kids love going to WC!
The teachers don't really seem to enjoy teaching. Teachers belittle children often in the classroom and halls.Teachers do however take the time to share everything they think is wrong with your child.Other than modivating the children to work harder. I think this school is quick to try to lable the children with disabilites. They spend to much time working on the ELA that military children are going to be left behind upon moving to new duty stations where other children are further along than children from West Carthage! Principal is nonexistent and seems to know little about any situation going on within the school.Office staff is rude! My only happiness with this school is their Kindergarten staff great job !!!!You modivate and love the children it is obvious when you walk down the halls.
So far, we have been at this school for three years and have very few complaints. The prinicple is nonexistent when it comes to participation and motivation with the kids. And the office personel are not personable at all...you feel as though you are wasting their time. The education, however, is wonderful! My kids are advanced and this school has no problem keeping them going! There are no real assemblies or anything as far as celebrations go, which is odd because other schools in the same district have a ton. The 'specials' classes, i.e. art, music, pe, are wonderful...very dedicated fun teachers that my kids love! Learning instruments starting at fourth grade is wonderful. It is unfortunate that the school system is so set on passing standardized tests by third grade, that they don't do a lot else...that seems to be a rampant issue with the No Child Left Behind crap.
Poor quality teaching. Violent students are not disciplined, putting normal children at risk. State Test scores are not valid; curriculum is changed to train students on material in tests and then constantly drilled. Office staff is uncooperative.
We recently moved into the area. Because my daughter (5th grade) requires special services (Asperger's Syndrome), she was sent to West Carthage and I couldn't be happier. Everyone at the school has been extremely helpful. Her mainstream teacher and the special ed teachers have gone well out of their way to help her adjust and have been so wonderful with keeping in contact with me. I am so grateful for everything they have done and continue to do. They are really on the ball and have proven that they really know what they're doing in regards to special services.
West Carthage has my two sons getting straight A's from K - 6th. This is the best school that I have seen. My middle son was the first K-6 that graduated in this brand new school. They were the first K, and the first 6th to leave from the very beginning. The two year tracking with the same teacher from K - 3 is awesome for these kids to learn all they can. The kids had the same teacher for two years, then switched. The environment is top notch, the teachers superb, and the school is very nice, and has all the stuff kids need. Have you ever had your son come home, and consistantly suprise you with what he learned in school? You will here! For kids that have that insatiable brain, this place rocks! This place offers motivation, dedication, and a learning environment that is second to none!
Staff at this school are very caring and concerned about their students. There is a very strong math program. They have excellent musicals at all grade levels.
I was not satisfied with this school. A school should be accepting of family participation. More parent involvement means better education and better security. They become an extended family. Did not find this here so we moved to the catholic school and found all this there.
