This school is the 'Rolls royce' of public elementary schools. Enthusiastic, knowledgable, and people oriented teachers combined with a newer very nicely equipped building make for an amazing experience for youngsters.

Means alot historically to the neighborhood. Many of the locals have had children and themselves attend. Many scouting events and concerts took place. Excellent physicaly environment for the children since re-constructed.

The 'Disappointed!' parent's review is at best unreasonable. The school district and community are superior as evidenced by the standardized test scores, graduates going on to 4 year colleges and the level of parent involvement in school related and extracurricular activities (e.g. sports, scouting, music etc.). Kindergarten is 1/2 day, yet there are many programs available throughout the community available for Kindergarteners attending AM or PM class. Stating that 'private tutors' are the reason for the school rank and high test scores is an insult to one's intelligence. Its involved Parents and Faculty that educate superior students. If you can't or won't commit the time to become involved with your child's education, you won't be happy with any school district. Also, NOW is a great time to invest in local real estate.

Disappointed! This school ranks high but what the scores don't tell you is that many students have private tutors. . . of course the test results will be better. The school starts late - 9:30am and the district before/after school is extremely limited. There simply aren't enough slots to fill the demand -- sadly, the feeling is that it is the 'parents problem' and that they need to make private arrangements for before AND after school care. It is almost impossible for both parents to work. The kindergarden prgram is a half day and not great. We spent money on a private 'kindergarden enrichment program' and our son learned more there! The private program absolutely outshined the school program. I would look at other (better) options before buying a house in this district. . . Northport, Elwood, Commack. Don't be fooled by the great ratings. . .

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.
