Excellent school system. The teachers actualy care about the students in every way which is very important to the student. This is also ery important to the parents. The teachers here actualy take the time to spend with the students if they have any issues with the work. I am very immpressed with this school!

CRMS provides after-school activities and bussing so that the children can round out their skills set, to include athletics, music & arts, homework assistance, etc. They also arrange 'Teen Scene' activities at least once a month. They have Accelerated and Honors Programs in English, SS, Science, Math, & Foreign Languages. Their Music Programs feed into the HS level, where the Marching Band is ranked nationwide and was featured in the 2004 movie 'The Manchurian Candidate'. The one factor that many in the county consider its main detractor, is actually its strongest card, and that is its diversity - consisting of several Central/Latin American, Caribbean, Eastern European, and Asian students. Many are immigrants, especially with the new wave of Haitian immigrants, sent by their families on the island to continue their education with relatives in the Chestnut Ridge area. The standardized test scores reflect the challenges of assimilating the large number of English-as-Second Language students into the school, and not indicative of any deficiency in the administration/faculty's teaching abilities. I give this school a 10 out of 10!

Chestnut Ridge Middle School is by far the most excellent public school I have ever seen. Teachers make all the learning enjoyable, and still maintain the disciplinary side of teaching. I didn't like private school because I couldn't choose the language that I wanted to study and it was boring. Now I am studying French and I'm having a great time!
