St. Thomas of Canterbury School fosters a positive academic and social climate for it's students. The school possesses many wonderful attributes that promote healthy child development and community cohesion. Our child is part of a wonderful school community that cares about his well-being. The Kindergarten teacher exudes an atmosphere of nurturance as she helps each child reach independence in the classroom. The school secretary is so warm and helpful. She always has a smile and is anxious to help out when there are any questions or difficulties. The school offers an excellent academic program and my child looks forward to going to his class everyday. Classrooms are not overcrowded and each student is respected and reinforced in his/her educational path. I would highly recommend this school to any interested parent. We are beyond satisfied.
The teachers, students and Christian family and values of this school are what makes it great! This school uses age old principles in a modern society. There is a high tech computer lab and science lab and each student is valued. Your child is not just a number, when they are in school they are with family whether it is teachers, clergy, students, parish members and even the janitors. No one is left out and everyone is held accountable. Students respect teachers and teachers respect students. If you think your child can do no wrong or can't handle discipline then you don't want this environment, children here are the most important part of the environment and right or wrong they are praised or disciplined appropriately. Every student is respectful and is well rounded. The student feedback speaks for itself.
My child loves this school he is very thankful and made great friends. He also loves the christianity and devotion to school and the church
Our family transfered to St Thomas 1 1/2 yrs ago coming from another parochial school. We chose St Thomas for its leadership, discipline, dedicated faculty and academics. We have not been disappointed. I recommend this school if you are seeking a small, family oriented environment.
It is an ok type of school, not a wow type of school. The best teacher I would say is the 2nd grade teacher, the 6th grade teacher, the 8th grade teacher, and the 7th grade teacher. There is a ton of parent involvement, and they have a band program, they have basketball and cheerleading program but thats all.
St. Thomas has provided a very sound foundation spiritually and academically for my children. The faculty and staff are truly dedicated to the well-being of each child. Parents are actively involved and alternative agendas are sometimes pushed (as noted by another reviewer), but Catholic schools are in a very difficult position to survive these days. I would recommend this school to interested parents.
I am currently a student in St.Thomas. I have been in St.Thomas since pre-K. I love the school, classmates and teachers. Sadly I will be graduating in June and saying goodbye to my friends and teachers that have become family. Though I don't want to leave, in June I will be graduating and leaving all of my 'family' I hope the knowledge, the relationships, and the values that have been instilled in me will last a lifetime. I suggest this school to any person who wants he best for their children.
We have had one child graduate from St. Thomas and currently have another in the school. We have been very happy with the curriculum and the sports program. The staff is very talented and cares about each and every child. They do a good job in preparing the children for the next step into high school. We have many good friends that we have met over our years at St. Thomas and would recommend the school and all that it offers to anyone. Tom
Moved my son from another Catholic elementary school to St. Thomas, and am very pleased with their academics. He has shown great improvement. The school is well organized and attentive to each childs needs.
