In terms of the community, Dobbs Ferry is a fabulous place to live. In terms of academic programing,Dobbs Ferry HS needs work. The school focus continues to be on a minority of graduates who receive IB diplomas. The school district has sacrificed its majority population of general education students to service its small advanced student population. The IB program has been in place for over 10 years and the district has not yet trained all their staff in IB. They have taken their strongest teachers and trained them for IB or put them as head teachers for the collaborative programs to service the special ed. population leaving the majority population of general track students with the majority of weak teachers, particularly the math and science sections, and no flexibility in scheduling for these students. The school was excellent before the IB program took it over. If your child is on a general education track as most developing students are, this is not the school for you.

i love the school community. it has an amazing teaching staff. The teachers really love what they do, and make extra time to meet with the students. The kids are all really great kids and come from great families. Kids get challenged as they get to the high school because they get put into honors classes, ap coarses, or ib classes. Yes, ib is offered here, unlike most public schools. The athletic teams are all very good. Football is well known for this town. Go Eagles! They have a huge gym, a turf field, a softball field, accesible tennis coarts, soccer fields, basketball coarts, volley ball coarts, and a gorgeous golf coarse. The only thing I dislike about this school is that you are with the same kids since kindergarten. Also, another great thing is the "anti-bullying" policy. Bullying is restricted in this area, and taken care of right away.

Grew up in Dobbs Ferry and it has fantastic schools. Small classes..great ratio of teacher to students, excellent teachers, great sports teams and extra curricular activities. Small village town, very safe community.
