My school is one of tolerance, that has become a national model for dealing with bullying and teen suicide, the district has the first Middle School gay-straight alliance on Long Island, one of only three high schools on the East End of Long Island to have a National Merit semi-finalist (2014), award-winning music department, Ivy League college acceptances, and one of the best art/photography departments on Long Island, which consistently wins honors for its students.
I have two boys in the school. The set up of school is poor, difficult to get through the school halls. Very crowded. I worry about their ventilation system. Food stinks. Academically, if you are in the upper classes you will do very well, but if you are not I question the level of education. Lots of cliques. Kids tend to come from very rich families and very poor families. Large Hispanic influence - part of the strange socioeconomic makeup of this resort community. This group has not yet infiltrated the advanced classes. Lots of kids in the upper classes apply for good and great colleges.
