My rating is based on my 1st graders performance , almost like she is taught to memorize everything. I tried reading different books with her but she only knows the " school reading book " so there you go! You have to have a foundation that starts from the bottom up.1st graders do 2nd grade work, ok but can they get a chance to learn was and so on.... I don't feel this school is on the right track! I have hired a tutor for 60.00 a week that is not including the 900.00 a month I pay for my 2 daughters that attend St. Mary of East Isilp so lets see how that goes...

It is not the students or the school and it's ativities that is the problem it is somewhat the teachers. Alot of the teachers are pleasent and caring while other have favorites and only care about their favorites and are mean and rude to the others. You would be better of going to a public school if you do care about the people who are with you and teach you all day every day. The school,A+, The students,A-,The activities,A++, The teachers,D-.

I have been attending Saint Mary School for 10 years. I absolutly love it. I get a wonderful education and everyone is so nice. If you are thinking about sending your child here, I highly recomend it. I wouldn't trade St.Mary School for anything!

I have been a student at St. Mary School for almost ten years, and have always been pleased to come to school each morning. There are no cliques or exclusive parties, so every student feels welcome. Religion is taught daily, and liturgies are often held. We have outstanding sports teams (our softball team is one of the best on Long Island). The courses here prepare us for high school very well. All of the teachers are extremely friendly, but discipline. Recognitions such as the National Junior Honor Society are offered to sudents who work hard enough. All in all, St. Mary School has been a great part of my life. curriculum

Outstanding school! As a public school teacher and a resident in an excellent school district, we chose to send our two daughters to St. Marys. The disciplines that are reinforced respect one another, manners, common courtesy, etc. are common practice. Teachers are excellent, subject matter and projects on cutting edge of educational theory. Sports program for middle school students, before and after care program for working parents. Highly recommended!

Even though we have an excellent school district, we elected to send our 3 children to St Mary s, primarily for spiritual reasons. In our opinion the top 3 reasons to send children to St Mary s are 1) Religion is ever present: Our children have developed personal relationships with God, Jesus and the Holy Mother, 2) Loving and attentive tutelage: Consequently our children exude confidence and learn with ease, and 3) Community: Our children have made friends with families who feel the same way we do. On the negative side, St Mary s does have a reduced sports program, which we supplement with extracurricular activities available abundantly through the town, and of course there are the fees - currently $695pm raising to $850pm next year which covers all three. Having said all this we believe St Mary s is the best money we've ever spent - we see it daily in our children s character.

My daughter attended this school for three years. We then transferred her to a public school because we felt the services at the public school were better. It turns out that we were right. You cannot compare the training and educational background of those teaching in public grammar schools with a Catholic school that only requires 12 credits in education. I now feel that my daughter is getting a quality education and that her teachers actually teach.

Good school. Learning and structure help the kids understand what is expected from them.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
