Woodland can be a wonderful environment for children who have a love for learning. My two daughters have attended since kindergarten, and have been fortunate enough to have had teachers that encourage greatness. We have an open classroom system which you either love or hate. This enables greater interaction between the classes in each grade. A lot of attention is paid at Woodland to students who excel, especially due to our New York state assessment testing. It seems to be the basis of all that is done at an elementary level these days. Unfortunately, our principal is a stern woman, who involves herself with only these children. She has no time for children she deems unworthy- due to grades, behavior, or family background. Parent involvement varies. Our PTO organizes several events throughout the school year, all with the students best interest at heart, culminating with a fun filled play day in June.
