TMS may be the best kept secret in Westchester County. We have moved several times and have been in a few highly regarded school districts in Westchester, and TMS is by far the best. Dr. Mundell is GREAT and knows every student by name, and many of the parents too. The teachers are outstanding (with one or two exceptions). It is a small school, smaller than most private schools. We regularly receive and send 2-3 emails to the teachers every day & we know exactly what is going on with all of our kids classes. The guidance counselor is amazing. There is one teacher in sixth grade that comes from Winward (?) School in White Plains who is beyond incredible. Please don't let the word get out about how great this school is. We like it just the way it is.

This is a great school. I don not agree that the student's are treated like numbers at all. I ran into one of my daughter's teachers when he was getting ice cream with him wife. He not only greeted me by name but volunteered specific information about how my child was doing. I haven't encountered any drug issues at the Middle School level. Unfortunately, not matter how small the school I don't think you'll avoid drugs at the High School level. The teachers are very qualified, love their job and love the students. The teachers are very good at being responsive and offering solutions when a child is struggling.

This school district is small and you would expect your child to benefit from that. However, your child will feel like a number as if he/she were in a large institution. The administration is more concerned with themselves than the students. There is bullying, fighting, drugs and sexual abuse that the school just turns their back on. Despite the small class size the teachers are not trained to notice children that are struggling or depressed. In the middle school they are bullied by the obnoxious and incompetent guidance counselor. It seems that if you are in any way related to the family of the principals of this district s schools you will have a job in this district. The previous middle school principal was young and clearly over his head. I agree with another comments made on this site saying that he was pushed around by the teachers who are more seasoned than he. If you are looking for the benefits of a small school, this is not it.

The students are awsome, however the school has a young principal who can be bullied by his baby boomer team of teachers.

About the tests


In 2012-2013 New York used the New York State Regents Examinations to test high school students in English, math, global history and geography, US history and government, living environment, chemistry, Earth science and physics. Students must take at least five Regents Exams in order to graduate. Scores of 65 and above are passing; scores of 55 and above earn credit toward a local diploma (with the approval of the local board of education). The goal is for all students to pass the tests.
