Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This review is based on my children's experiences, and my observations The school's student body is very small and every child in attendance is under the microscope for every move they make, and had better be be able to justify it. There is no allowance for wiggle room for a child to be a child. A student who may be a social butterfly and a good conversationalist is considered disruptive....and is disciplined as such. The school is administered more like a corrections facility than a place of learning, and different thoughts and opinions are not easily accepted or welcomed. I've heard that student grades and the value and pricing of real estate in the town are directly connected and the staff and administrators are pressured to achieve overly positive results for financial reasons and any student who skews their stats is bannished and shunned. The educators don't have thick skin and are overly sensitive. I'd be thrilled if there was a program where the staff from THS was rotated thru a high school in an inner city neighborhood in NYC for a sabbatical. They would return seeing things thru different eyes. I hope you will find this review helpful.

Both my kids have been in this district since kindergarten. They have know their classmates all their lives. That's kind of nice, to me. This is a village in the town of Eastchester. It's a small village and the school is diverse. To me that's a good thing. The schools are good and sports are encouraged. There are politics here (big nepotism), but all in all not too bad. Students graduate and go on to good colleges. Bottom line, a nice, family community with good schools.

Tuckahoe is TINY. Extremely small. It's actually nice sometimes, as opposed to enormous schools with about 3000 kids and 30 kids per class. Here, everyone knows your name, your middle name and your mom's name - and that's just off the top of their heads.
