This school building is great. All the teachers are very caring and considerate to thier students. The principal, on the other hand, not as good of an understanding principal to special needs children. She is very quick to send them to other programs and schools.

I am pleased with the school and district. The principal needs to be more involved - lunch room etc like the other schools in the district.

My son is enrolled in the second grade and is more than pleased. I think this school has a very good curriculum for the children. The expectations are a little high, there are things the kids are learning about now which i did not learn myself until third or fourth grade. I understand it is important, but in a sense it is a bit pushy. They could back down just a little bit. I am just glad to know that my son is pleased with this school and enjoys the environment.

Elbridge shares its school system with Jordan and is a high quality district. The teachers are above average with their compassion and skills. They are in direct contact with parents and have the concerns of the children in their best interest.

About the tests

Beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, the New York State Department of Instruction implemented new assessments designed to be aligned with the Common Core State Standards. The new standards for proficiency in these subjects are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change. See this letter from New York's Commissioner of Education for more information on these changes.

In 2012-2013 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York. The goal is for 90% of students to meet or exceed grade-level standards on the tests.
