I really love Ellenville High School. I'm sad that I won't be attending for my senior year.

I am an Alumni of Ellenville High school. And found that they managed the students pretty well. The environment in which the kids are raised in makes it easy for them to get into trouble. So considering that fact I believe that at Ellenville Schools they do a decent job, but could do better.

there is no finer school than EHS. My kids went to private schools in the U.K. and in Rome. Yet, their education was not as rich and enduring as my beloved alma mater, EHS. Sinchai Olmarthuus, Nobel Laureate

I have two children who have graduated and one current student from Ellenville High School and can say that there is a vast array of opportunities for students to explore. There are AP classes as well as individual help for those in need of it. In my experience the staff and administration has always been responsive and helpful. There is a Performing Arts Academy, offering Music and Theatre classes, which is outstanding. Students are involved in the operation of a school-owned radio station that serves the entire community - overall a positive place dedicated to a well rounded education.

Great programs for music. Extra curriculars are very open, and parents are always helping.

The problems of EHS may not be unique, but are nonetheless significant. Many of the teachers are related in family or social circles, which at odds with effective hiring. Children of teachers are at a significant advantage in classes. In general only a few great teachers exist. No AP courses for advanced students. There exists, however, a lively sports culture.

Out of four schools that my children have attended, this is the worst school for education, equality, and respect given to parents. Those who differ, will be a teacher, volunteer, or staff.

The special education program is excellent. The teachers, physical therapists & speech therapists go the extra mile for their students to succeed. I thank all my son's teachers especially Mrs Guba.

About the tests

In 2010-2011 New York used the New York State Regents Examinations to test high school students in english language arts, math, global history and geography, US history and government, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics and several foreign languages. The results for english language arts, math, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics, global history and geography, US history and government, french, italian, and spanish are displayed in GreatSchools profiles. Students must take at least five Regents Exams in order to graduate. Scores of 65 and above are passing; scores of 55 and above earn credit toward a local diploma (with the approval of the local board of education). The goal is for all students to pass the tests.
