Great teachers, poor policies. Require fully prepaid tuition but will not refund any portion of tuition if you need to leave the school during the school year for ANY reason (job related move, job loss, etc.). Unwavering policy with no exceptions no matter how many children are enrolled, no matter what the circumstances are.
The best money I have ever spent on my children was for their education at CVMS. They are all at college or have graduated college and I see the lasting impact CVMS has had on them. My children learned to be independent thinkers, they learned to take initiative and they learned to be respectful of those who think differently from them. I cannot thank the school enough for helping my children to grow to be such amazing young adults!
I LOVE this school! The teachers are excellent. The learning atmosphere is incredible and the kids come out of there well rounded--able to think and take action. It doesn't get better than this!
Phenomenol. This school teaches the way kids learn. My kids came out so prepared for high school and college it is amazing. They all went to wonderful colleges with a semester of college credits earned while in high school--because they were so well prepared for high school at CVMS!
My child was fortunate to have attended Chemung Valley Montessori School from the Toddler Program through Middle School. CVMS provides an environment where they received individual attention while being encouraged to test their limits on a daily basis. They were extremely well prepared for high school where they are currently ranked among the top 10 students. Through their coursework at the Montessori School they entered high school with credit for three courses. They were prepared to take several regents exam and did very well. For overall academic rigor, along with developing a confident and lifelong learner, Chemung Valley Montessori School is the only choice. It is an investment in your childs future, and one I'm glad we've made.
Our daughter began at Chemung Valley Montessori this Fall. We couldn't be happier with the entire staff! The quality of education is incredible!
I am absolutely thrilled with CVMS. My child is in her third year (she is now 5) and she learned to write her name at age 3. She sings entire songs in Spanish (they have Spanish 2 days a week), and she does not ever say she does not want to go to school. I truly love the facility, the teachers, the methods of teaching and can not believe how much she has learned. I believe that a great solid foundation builds her future.
We have only been with CVMS for one year but it has been a wonderful experience thus far. Even beyond the Montessori methods - CVMS has filled its walls with teachers and staff who care about the success and self definition of the children. Dicipline is firm but loving and the children are taught not only the academics but the social aspects of life as well. The curriculum challenges the most gifted of children and is flexible to meet the needs of those who need more attention and time. We are coming out of the public school system and wouldn't go back - at least not without kicking and screaming. (They do take the NY tests and in comparison test higher on average than the surrounding public schools)
My kids have gone to cvms for three years now and I couldn't be happier. The teachers are kind and smart and the head of school has always taken time to address any questions that I might have. I plan to keep my kids in cvms straight through 8th grade.
