My daughter came form a NYC school. What I like about LI schools is that there are a bunch of programs for the children to attend; however, I do not like that my daughter does not get as much homework as she was in NYC. I do not feel she is being challenged at all. I will say; the school staff are very friendly and I feel comfortable calling in to disuss anything with them.

In my experience, the teachers do not identify the different learning styles that students have. As a result, the educator doesn't reach out to the child according to how the child learns. Teachers at this school appear to be instructed to keep pace with the curriculum, rather than the pace of the individual student. Rich teaching is lost in the primary grades.

I am the parent of a third and sixth grader. I am pleased with the overall discipline efforts of the school. I am concerned with the academics. The teachers are not being supported in academics since there was a change in the assistant principal of curriculum a few years ago. This new AP is often in her office instead of checking on the teachers and pushing for more rigorous teaching. The proof is in the scores. The scores on the state exams have been falling over the last few years. Other than the academic piecem, school has a warm, friendly and safe atmosphere.

I attended Gotham Elementry in the 5th grade as a very shy and insecure little girl. After a few weeks of learning the system. I came to find out that the teachers and students were very welcoming. Everthing about Gotham was great. The interaction between teachers and students and between Parents and teachers. Although when I attended, almost six years ago the music department was lacking, hopefully over the years it has improved. I love the encouragement the school provide and hopefully it keeps up the good work.

My kids have been going here for only one year. So far, the school has been giving a great effort. tThe teachers seem to care, i get calls about my children's progress, attendance and concerns. The atmosphere is welcoming, i've met the principal and he cares about his students. My daughter has started playing the trumpet and is having fun. The school has had PTA meetings and assemblies for important subjects like the horrors of racism and importance of helping one another.

I was a student at Gotham Avenue ever since pre-k to 6th grade and the school is wonderful. The school has gotten a lot bigger with a lot more students and the teachers are great. I am now in High School and I enjoyed my time at Gotham Avenue Elementary School.

Gotham Ave school is the perfect school for children. This school recently earned the pathfinder award. The sixth graders of 2003-2004 school year did it in the 4th grade. The fifth graders this year's scores were higher than the sixth graders. Keep it up!!!
