All three of my children attended this school. As time has passed I have noticed that parents are treated more and more like the enemy. It used to be that parents were encouraged and invited to attend parties, school activities and give their input. Now it is the opposite. Parents are told if specific teachers are requested their input will be thrown in the trash. 10 and 11 year olds are not allowed to wear Halloween costumes and parents forbidden to attend parties because it is 'too distracting'. There are so many children with serious issues that those with 'minor' problems must figure it out on their own as best they can. It makes me sad to see the direction this school has gone in over the years. There are some wonderful teachers but the administration sets the tone and it hasn't been a welcoming one in recent years.
I am soon to have both of my children at this school and I love it!! The principal is wonderful and we have been lucky with our teachers so far too!
I have children in this school. The school is a new air conditioned school with new playground equipment. The PTA activities are plentiful wihch include ice cream socials, movie night, book fairs, fall fests, bingo night, dunk the principal, and much more. After school programs include Karate, Dance, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, foreign language, and art classes. There are also early morning intra-murals. There is always something going on in this school. The Principal, Mr. Fountaine, is excellent. He is kind, and is able to discipline the children in a kind and calm way. He wears colorful, character ties for the children. He also is extremely involved in all of the activities. You will always find him heading the 'Locomotion line dance' trailing the children all over the dance floor. The children love him and the parents do too. I give this schoolfive stars!
I think this school is doing a pretty good job. Teachers and staff are great. Need more programs for the kids in 3rd grade and under. Exp. sports
