This school is wonderful. The teachers are all great. Your child will get a top notch education from this school. It also offers a wonderful support system and has outstanding programs to get involved with.

Both my children were challenged appropriately in Floral Park Memorial. They are now in great colleges, successful and happy and can each graduate a year early thanks to the college level and ap courses they were put into. I didn't know anything about APs before my oldest went into FPM and I wasn't even sure he was ready for them. I was assured he could do it so I trusted the school. They were right and I am thankful I trusted the school to know where to place my children. The university price went down by 25 percent which was a wonderful perk for me. The atmosphere is good, the kids are spirited and high achieving and the staff is extremely dedicated. Of course, we came across a teacher or two that my children had challenges with. But isn't that in every school?

I feel this school does not challeng my child enough. I feel they etiher give a excess amount of work in advance classe and not enough work in regular classes. They need a middle track.l

In my child's previous school she was in advanced classes. At FPMH she was put in regular classes, when i questioned this I was told wouldn't you rather her be the top of this class then at the lower end of the advanced class. I definately do not feel she is being challenged enough. I know she can do more. Also found the guidance counselor is very difficult to see.

I have 2 students in the school and I feel they both are doing very well. One has been in regents classes and has had a consultant teacher, who has been with him for all the years there and one is in advanced classes and has the support of her teachers. I feel they are both getting what they need and when they don't, they always have an open to see or talk to me.

This school is very great. As a current student it is challenging. Most of the teachers are great and work with you to help you. There are some other teachers that just lecture the class and give them homework. Its nice that most of the teachers use powerpoint in the class room and involve the computer in class everyday. The guidance staff is great. I had to get my schedule changed 3 times this year because of my class selection. She was very understanding and fix the problem right there and then. It might be hard not to fall through the crack. Some teachers will let you do your own thing and only care if you fail and there are some that want you to do good. Teachers often tell them to come after school, before school, during lunch and study hall periods if you are having problems.

As a recent graduate of FPMHS, I was able to see that the school offers a wide array of advanced placement and advanced level courses and has a great availability of elective courses, including several different art courses, a junior high and senior high band, junior and senior high chorus, as well as several selective, audition-only groups. The advanced courses are taught by exceptional teachers - the teachers of lower level courses vary in their quality. The school is safe and can give wonderful education if your child decides to take the right classes (usually AP) and works hard.

Be careful -- my child was an excellent student at JLCS, and this school let them fall between the cracks. They have a policy of shifting all responsibility -- ALL -- to the student and parent. No accountability in the structure of the administration. Take my warning.

My son has attended Floral Park Memorial for 5 years, and I must say it is one of the finest schools in Long Island. The quality of academic programs is nothing but excellent, and the availability of extracurricular activities is astounding. As far as parent involvement goes, parents can be as involved as they want. This level of flexibility and masterful mix of academics with extra curricular actvities makes FPM the number one choice!

I feel that the school adequately supports the students. Students are challenged and given a lot of oppurtunity to succeed. Of course parental involvement is essential to ensure the success of the student.

My 2 children go here, currently grade 9 and grade 10. One is a high performer, and she likes school. The low performer falls through the cracks. The school places all responsibility on the student and doesn't assume any individual care. The administration is hesitant to respond adequately and is concerned with issues of liability rather than education. The guidance staff seems to follow the lower standards. I hope for my children to attend a good university. Guidance has stated, 'they're passing, what's the problem?' The bar is held too low. My children are not challenged, and not expected to reach their potential.
