Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

OLV School has been a blessing to our family. Parental involvement is high - studies show increased parental involvement results in higher test scores and children who are happier and more confident. The faculty and administration are beyond dedicated. My children have received not only an excellent academic education, but in this faith-based environment, an excellent moral education.

My children attend OLV and it is a wonderful learning atmosphere. The academic program is above standard and my children have thrived.

The level of parental involvement is over the top as certain parents seem to run the school. The administration is nonexistent and the lack of leadership shows. The teachers are the bright spot as they are dedicated and deliver a quality education without much guidance from the top and parents who feel the own the place.

Let me start by saying that the level of parental involvement at OLV is very high. The children are there to learn in a Spiritual Setting. The School Board and the Home School Association are very active. The quality of education is excellent and of course the level of extra curricular activities are endless. The only drawback is the turnover of teachers to the public school system due to compensation issues. It seems that as soon as good young teachers get a few years experience they tend to move on. As of now there are still qualified replacements and my child has had a wonderful experience attending OLV.

Each of my daughters went o 'OLV', and were enriched by contact with the Administration and the Teachers. One teacher after another, for the full eleven years we were part of this family, were professional, caring and committed to each child's development in this Catholic school. The children learned to be a part of the community, with an overall strong church-attending parish, and a sports program which is well-run and well-populated. These CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) programs are run by parents committed to excelling. The Church-school tie is very evident in such things as May Crowning, a strong First Penance and Eucharist program, as well as Confirmation program. I would have liked to see a stronger religion program in seventh/eighth grades, making it a priority to stress the tenets of our faith and infuse the children with such things as enthusiasm for the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, Virtues, etc.

The quality of the academic program here is very good, on an average running about 6 months ahead of the public schools in the district. There is a band and choral program as well as after school scrabble and dance clubs. Sports are intramutral or operated through CYO.

OLV is a small school with a big agenda. They offer everything that a public school offers, but have a smaller student population that makes it feel like a family. My daughter has benefitted greatly from the Christian care offered by the faculty and staff and is constantly being challenged and inspired by the academics. OLV has the unique distinction of being able to offer its students most of the services of the public school, with a whole lot more. I can't imagine a more nurturing place for my child.
