I am more than happy with this school and especially with my daughters teached Mrs Preston. Very nice and pleasant principal stuff teachers . Everything i see is very nice and orginized. Thru the notes sent to parents i always know what is going on the school. Love the school activitoes , trips ans fun things school has to ofer for kids and families.
Very unhappy here. The new Principal hides from the parents and staff. She is controlled by the VP and someone who I think is a guidance counselor who knows nothing about children. The school does not address any bullying and hides terrible occurances from all those not privy to the information (serious stuff) Nothing is followed up. Children of certain parents (example a parent who is on the quality review board) are not reprimanded. Nothing is addressed. The guidance counselor makes poor decisions and does not handle any bullying situations. My children have been punched, kicked, shoved, screamed in their ears, My children have been called terrible names, and when I am in the school yard I hear from other parents that their children have suffered the same. Something is wrong here. My children will not be returning in September. This school needs a huge overhaul on how bullying is handled, how the principal and staff interact with parents and how if a child is to be reprimanded it should be meeted out accordingly and followed up. It is not done.
I have a child in kindergarten at PS32 and I would like to say that the teacher is compassionate and I feel the needs of my child are meet. I am impressed with the homework they are given. In the beginning of the year it was challenging but as the year progressed we got into a routine. In my childs weekly homework packets, a few of the pages are geared for 1st and 2nd graders. Part of the homework is having the parent engage the child with reading activities and having the parent initial the homework with the title of the book that they read. After speaking with the teacher in the beginning of the year, I was informed the homework was something new they started this year for kindergarten and I was asked my opinion about it. I like their approach and I look forward to sending my younger child to PS 32.
SE class was horrible, all they did was criticize my child and the principal is not doing anything. I'll be out soon.
This school encourages their students to do their best. My child is currently enrolled in kindergarten and is loving it. He is learning a lot and is having fun doing it.
My children are presently enrolled in this school. We (my wife, kids, and I) are completely happy with the school, the teachers, the parents. Specially, the dual language (Korean/English) classes are extraordinary. Wonderful teachers... This school is so good that I won't move out of this neighborhood until my children reach 6th grade... God bless PS32!!!
My son transferred into this school this year. So far, I'm very happy with it. The teacher is excellent. I think the curriculum is fine; the teacher expands on it as she sees fit. The PTA is active and really supports the school with its fundraisers. The parent coordinator supports the parents in her activities and seems to work very well with the PTA . The school holds some nice events like Math Night, 2nd Grade Sing. I haven't had too much interaction with the principal and vice-principal. I heard confidentiality is strictly adhered to. Safety is clearly a priority with 171st St blocked off during drop-off and pick-up times. Also, the crossing guards are always alert and friendly. And, you can't beat the free breakfast and lunch everyday for every child -- no forms to fill out!
The curriculum is too slow and far behind. The teachers only review while the parents have to do all the teaching at home. The PTA are only nice to people who participate. The Principal and Vice Principal only care about their image, and not the benefit of the children. I am very unhappy with this school.
Excellent school.. Although the PTA could be a little more friendlier.Teachers are all A+ Kids are all good, respectful.Wonderful school!
I'm a former student and has spent 7 years in this school. It is probably the safest school in the region. The majority of the teachers are above average in teaching and the keep kids interested with school. I excelled very wel hear and now attend junior high. This school is probably best in the district .
Well.. I have to say... my children are presently enrolled in this school. We are completely happy with the school, the teachers, the parents. It is a large school but yet it has that small town feel to it. Each teacher we have met to date (three years in) have been nothing short of wonderful and all have a genuine love of their profession and the students. This includes the principal and the asst principal as well. Most take the time to get to know each student by face if not by name. The after school programs have been wonderful, arts, reading, math etc. And the parent involvement is above average compared to other schools I have found. I am very happy with my choice of sending my children here over any other school public and private in the area. It is worth the drive each morning. My children are happy.
I had to post a review after reading the first post about this school. I totally disagree with that post. This school has the utmost respect and safety of the children in mind. As with any school, public or private, you will find some teachers better than others but the majority in this school are excellent. I agree wholeheartedly with the second review that has been posted: A large school with small town feel. This school is top notch and highly reccomended. The involvement of most teachers and most parents is what keeps this school tops. Sady, this is our last year. My son is in 5th grade and will be graduating. But to all future students: This is a school worth attending You will love it, the academics and enrichment is top of the line. Thank you PS 32!
I'm a former student and i was displeased while attending PS 32. I quickly transferred schools in 3rd grade due to the poor teaching and unwilling teachers. All the teachers are not active and couldn't care less of the students. The safety of the students are not dependable and time to time a child gets hurt.
