We couldn't be any happier with MHRCA! Our daughter is in Pre-K (it's a mixed 3s and 4s class) and the scheduling options are awesome. My daughter will be 4 in a few weeks and does Mon/Wed/Thurs full days (8:20am to 2:30pm). They have a UPK for 4 year olds and early drop off and afterschool options as well. The head teacher (Ms. Tarnok) is simply fabulous, as is the teacher's aide (Mrs. Valencia). I can't say enough great things about our experience thus far at MHRCA. Our daughter loves going to school each day and is learning new and exciting things all the time. Highly recommend.
MHRCA has been the best decision ever for children! I am SO pleased with every aspect of it. This school not only instills overall high academics but it provides before & after school care, all types of extra curricular activities, kids are respectful, school communication is tops, parents are very involved and the principal Dr. Lana is always ready to speak to answer any questions or concerns. If your looking for an exceptional school in Flushing, MHRCA is worth the visit!!
I am extremely satisfied with the Most Holy Redeemer Academy. Both of my kids attend the school and they love it. This school fosters a sense of community amongst the parents, teachers and of course the children. The principal is easy to approach and is always willing to stop what she is doing to listen to a parent's concern. The teachers are caring and they go out of their way to improve the learning environment while nurturing the children. The after school program is wonderful and effective. Another great thing about this school is the on site nurse... who is caring and meticulous. The school goes out of its way to involve the parents in activities. I love this school and feel fortunate to have place my kids in it!!
I am very satisfied with this school. Its name has changed to Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Academy, but the staff remains the same. People are really nice here, and learning is worry free. If you ever have a problem, the principal is very available and very protective of the children over any member of her staff, so I can't imagine anybody having the nerve to yell at the children as some parents described happening at St. Ann's, the school that closed down. The level of instruction is very good, because the classrooms are small, so teachers are able to taylor the program to compensate for individual children's weakness. I was impressed by the academic progress that my two sons achieved at this school. I took them out of public school because I was spending a fortune in tutors and they were not making the grade. Here is where they found success.
I have to say that I am extremely pleased to have my children attend Mary's Nativity. The teachers are caring and compassionate. They work hard to ensure they learn and spend their lunch hours working with the kids. The principal has an open door policy and she is available to meet with the parents a moment's notice. She is a kind woman and the children like her very much. My son looks forward to when she teaches classes as a sub, her lessons are very interesting. The school maintains a lot of extra-curricular activities such as scouts, music, dancing, after-school homework help, choir, alter-servering, the list goes on.... There is a yearly talent show, Christmas Play, Sport Day, Science Fair, Art Fair, Book Fair, etc.. Home/school people devote a good deal of time creating special events for the kids. It's a great school for an all around education. Kids love it.
Teachers are very motivated. I was surprised that, although they are a Catholic school, a good percentage of their children come from various religious backgrounds. For catholic children, like mine, they have religious education available, but they respect other children's beliefs, while giving their parents an affordable alternative to public schools. I feel that teachers own up to the responsibility to make the children learn and do well, instead of just grading and complaining that kids don't get it. They start french classes for children since 1st grade, and they have a nice computer lab. However, I whish they would invest in a playground.
Mary's Nativity has a wonderful family atmosphere. It's all the advantages of a small school. The ratio between teachers and students in each class is 20 to one and one assistant. They go out of their way to make sure all the students excell in their academics and socially. The school has a very close nit community where the children are treated by the teachers, the staff and specially by the principal as their own, so much so that the Principal,Mrs. Baumis, knows each child by first name.
This is an excellent school. There are so many different programs available to the children. The teachers are caring the principal is kind & accessible. WE are very happy that we sent our son to this school.
Great school. Teachers are very intelligent and caring. My daughter had an excellent kindergarten year and is now in 1st grade. She loves it.
