My daughter attends this school. We were very happy at the beginning and I still believe that they have a very challenging curriculum with a viable option for college credit. However, I was not happy with my daughter's experience with bullying. She was bullied by 2 older students and although these girls were spoken to they continued to sit on the bleachers when my daughter had gym and be present at my daughter's lunch periods when they were not supposed to be there. There should be more security so that students with free periods are not entering the rooms/gym/cafeteria where students are being taught/having lunch. It is a stressful situation when the person bullying a student can just lounge around wherever they want.

Started QSI this year in eighth grade. Prior school was accelerated and we needed an advanced curriculum. Being a 6-12 they had the courses we needed. I could not ask for a more responsive environment. There is great flexibility regarding classes and my daughter will complete most regents by end of ninth grade. They are an early college school so she will then take college courses for credit at Queens College. Other schools with screened programs would not accommodate accelerated students; she would have to repeat courses already taken. Staff is available to work with students who want to further explore their fields and my daughter is thoroughly engaged in her education. There are many clubs and they will create new ones if students are interested. Highly recommended for advanced academics in a small school environment where educators make sure the bar is set high for those who are interested.

My daughter has been at QSI since 2007. Both the administration and the faculty are wonderful. The principal makes the effort to personally know each child and their family. Her faculty is young and top notch. They do everything they can to make your child's experience a good one. Knock down the doors to get in, you won't be sorry.

My daughter just started 9th grade at this school-it is just the best publicHigh school in Queens NY. The curriculum, the staff, the Principal-it is a total package. This school really prepares the students for college and the world. All courses are college level with great emphasis put on creative writing skills. The teachers are caring and very accesible.Principal Ophals run a very tight ship-she is in 10 places at the same time. Children have unlimited use of laptop computers. They graduate from this school with upto 62 college credits. The atmosphere in the school is disciplined and respectful towards everyone. If you are a parent scouting for a high school, look no further,QSI is the answer to many a worried parent about their child's academic future. You will be totaly satisfied at QSI.

The Queens School of Inquiry is a great school: small, task oriented, with caring teachers and a wonderful principal (Ms. Ophals), who really takes a hands on aproach. Imagine a principal actually knowing who your child is! The academics are rigorous, and because the school is small, they can experiment and try new ways of improving the teaching and providing a safe, nurturing learning environment. It is culturally very diverse, which is also great, no one group dominates, and children learn to appreciate each other.
