The June 2, 2011 review was certainly about the wrong school. Ms. Finder has been Principal at GWL for 6 years and is an amazing leader. She is highly respected by staff and parents. She is an effective communicator, passionate educator and treats each child with care and concern. She is always willing and available to listen and has come to my assistance numerous times. I have three children in the school and each one has had amazing experiences and that is because of the wonderful leadership skills of Ms. Finder.

My daughter just started GWL. She was in a private school where the ratio was 8 kids with 2 teachers. I'm beyond happy with the academics, personalities and facility of GWL. The kids & families are down to earth and respectful. The teachers are always available by phone, person or email. Trivial to some, I have to comment on the lunch menu - it is excellent. Only after she started GWL did she start eating veggies, fruits, smoothies which comes with every meal.

I just read some of the reviews and I am surprised by how good they were. This was NOT my experience of this school. My son was there for two years and our experience was definitely related to how good the teacher was. The first year it was pretty good because we had a teacher who really cared. The second year we were there we had a teacher who was frequently absent and was average in her abilities at best, the result was that this was a very sub-standard year indeed. Also the principal was young and new to the school and appeared to have an exceptionally unpleasant manner with both parents and children. Hopefully she has now been replaced with someone more able to relate to young kids.

I went to 2nd grade at Glenwood Landing School in 1954 - I thought that I did pretty well but they left me back . . . I'd have to say thumbs down to the school.

As a new parent to the district I have to say that so far I am impressed. The only thing missing is after school programs. But that is not a reason to choose a school.

This School was the reason why we choose Glen Head. It was a wonderful experience for my Child the teachers showed us a great deal of care and concern. It is a warm nurturing environment, with relatively small class sizes. The Physical Beauty of the school is more than skin deep.

Your child will never fall through the cracks at GWL. Where other schools may fail to get to know their students individually, the staff and faculty at GWL strive to connect with each and every student who passes through its regal red doors. Small class size and highly trained educators combine to ensure that the focus of attention is on both the curriculum and the student. Philosophically, some may find that GWL falls short in providing a realistic impression of the adult world and its workings through an overly sensitive approach to student interaction rather than teaching kids the skills of self determination, self direction and, for lack of a better expression, developing a 'tough skin' to withstand a world where criticism and differentiation is part of life.
