Greenfield School has provided my children with a solid education in their basic requirements. The specials teachers in music, art,and library are very talented and keep the children engaged and motivated. I would like to see a stronger science curriculum, but teachers and staff are very open to suggestions and implementing new ideas. We are very satisfied with the school. It is a lovely community.

This school and its district is not able to accommodate the needs of ADHD children. I recommend sending such children elsewhere where there is adequate training and resources that are allocated for learners that cannot adapt to a rigid traditional classroom setting. That being said the teachers do try and the principle works hard to achieve the goals that are within their limited means. However, these may fall very short of the child's true potential.

My daughter just transferred from a small, private school to Greenfield, this fall and we love the school. Mr. Hewitt has such a warm personality and is so approachable. I feel that my duaghter is safe, cared for, and most importantly, made to feel at home on a daily basis. Love this little ole school!

This is a school in which you feel welcome from the moment you enter. The teachers are dedicated and caring. The principal is always outside welcoming the children by their names every morning. Before and afterschool programs are available and I like having the opportunity to help in my chulds classroom.

About the tests

Beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, the New York State Department of Instruction implemented new assessments designed to be aligned with the Common Core State Standards. The new standards for proficiency in these subjects are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change. See this letter from New York's Commissioner of Education for more information on these changes.

In 2012-2013 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York. The goal is for 90% of students to meet or exceed grade-level standards on the tests.
