This is a great 'community' of students of all backgrounds of economics, races and educational environment. It truly reflects the hoped for 'ideal' of what this country can be!

In my opinion Greenport High School is wonderful. The faculty always cared, my educational background was as good if not better than any other school that I could have attended. I am not a special needs child and I feel that Greenport still did a great job taking care of all my needs. Greenport is a small school, how can you expect to have an honors program or a large number of advance placement courses when there are only 40 students in a grade. If I could go back in time and do high school over there is no other place I would attend.

Acedemically lacking- more concerned in conducting 'inclusion' classes while not focusing on the needs of the bright students. Bright students are left to wallow amongst troubled youth and the school does nothing to enhance learning for the brighter student. There are no honors program and very limited Advanced Placement courses. They even eliminated the science fair. Wow! School has a large percentage of minority students and discipline is horrible. Teachers are competent and many care about the students but the Superintendent is too concerned with cutting costs for the overly fiscally conservative school board that he ties the teacher's hands. Innovative teaching has been lost!

Greenport bends over backwards for the special needs kids and does little for regular students. Classes are dumbed down to fit the needs of a large 'inclusion' population. Regular kids suffer. Inclusion doesn't work in Greenport.

High School has a very weak science department and the guidance department is basically non existent! No weighted averages for class rank and class rank is noted on college transcript! Elementary school shines! Superintendent's salary far exceeds such a small district's responsibilities! Weak school board of a 'good o'boy mentality!
